Blame it on (the) Manhattan
Our first night in Las Vegas, we stopped into the Sinatra bar for a cocktail. I decided to try their special Manhattan, which includes among other ingredients, a black tea liqueur. It was fantastic. It was also about three times as much alcohol as I normally drink in one sitting.
Afterward we went wandering through the shops (which howdy-do are open LATE) and bien sur I wanted to stop at the Chanel boutique. I was idly perusing the shoes, when le monsieur pointed to one pair I’d been eyeing and said, “those are nice.” (He’d had a Manhattan too, and has even less alcohol tolerance than I do.) I tried them on, and was surprised and delighted to find them quite comfortable.
Without further ado…
May I present the utterly classic ballet flats. I am so loving these shoes.
And at least I walked out without the jacket. Yes, jacket. It was blue and white classic tweed, cut like a blazer (narrow lapels, nipped in at the waist) and the sales associate insisted I try one on. It fit like it was Made. For. Me. Not boxy in the least. I almost swooned, it was that gorgeous and looked that good on. I still had enough brain cells functioning to remind myself that it was completely out of the question.

Good hubby!!! You will get tons of mileage out of those babies. Congrats on finding shoe luv. Hopefully your affair turns into permanent relationship, as my own fickle heart tends to wander (doesn’t outright stray, but it certainly does alot of suspect flirting).

My guess is that a good 75 percent of the shopping done in Vegas is done under the influence. If you have time, do get to the outlets in Primm. The Last Call had a great shoe selection last time I was there. Bring a flask.

Lucky girl! My 15 year old niece told me her ultimate gift would be a pair of Chanel ballet flats tucked inside a Chanel handbag! How funny is that; I mean, she’s 15! After all, one must be a certain age to appreciate such lovelies!

LOL, been there, done that, and I hadn’t had any alcohol, either! But I did have two enabling friends with me. Ended up with a suit (on sale -yeah, right.) The shoes are gorgeous, enjoy them!

I love the ballet flats on you. My only quibble is I dislike wearing things with logos on them, but the Chanel logo there is quite discreet.
May we ask about the reason not to get the jacket? Price? Is there a way to find a (cough cough) knock-off that would do? Vintage?

Heck, Pseu, I saw shoes just like that at Payless last week. On the BOGO sale table. (THAT WAS A FUNNY) Lovely, classic AND comfortable. You will wear them over and over, for years, so price-per-wear will make them not-so-expensive in the end. Wish you had a photo of the jacket. I love to see your clothes! Just rounded up all of my vintage and new scarves, they were in boxes and drawers everywhere, and I thought, “Pseu would never treat her scarves this way!” So now I can wear them, with you as inspiration. Your posts really do encourage me to go that little bit extra and finish the look, even though I live in scrubs 60 hours a week, and wearing real clothes sometimes feels like too much effort. Your words and pictures are appreciated!
“Une” – this is soooo weird – I tried on those EXACT shoes last week in Chanel in Melbourne and Mr SE was with me saying…. “Yes, they are great, – I like them!!”

Believe it or not, I have a pair of Chanel shoes also. They are without a doubt the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Sadly, mine are just plain old loafers.

Maravonda – I’m so glad you’re enjoying your scarves! Thanks for letting me know. I actually store most of my silk squares folded in a plastic storage thingy. I need to be able to see them to get inspired. The bigger stole type scarves are kept folded over hangers during the cooler months, then stored in a box for summer.
Semi Expat – oh, I really hope you get them! We’ll be shoe twins!
Julianne – they have about a 1/2″ heel, but I think they have similar “spectator” styles in pumps and slingbacks. I’ll bet you could find a style that works for you.

They look beautiful on you. Twice I talked myself into buying a pair, and twice, when I tried them on, they were too narrow or too *something* in the fit. If I recall, I was secretly relieved, but that desire has come rushing back seeing how terrific the shoes look on you!
