Seasonal Anticipation

Well yes, there are some big holidays on the horizon, but une femme is actually counting down the days until…

Season 2 of Downton Abbey!

Our local station has begun re-running episodes from Season 1 which I’m enjoying even more this time.

The elegant costumes!

The quaint country customs!

The Dowager!

Here in the U.S., Season 2 premieres January 8.

I have only just discovered this series via French satellite television in Australia. I absolutely love it. As you say, the costumes are absolutely sensational.

I was not aware that Downton was proving so popular on the other side of the Atlantic. I am glad you are enjoying the eccentricities of English country house living in the early 1900s. Apparently over here we have a special Christmas edition to look forward to.

Anything with Maggie Smith in a prominent role is bound to be good and Downton does not disappoint. I too am a big fan.

I knew nothing about this series until reading your post. I went straight to Amazon instant video and watched the first episode of the the first season. Now, I’m hooked.

By the way, members of Amazon Prime can watch these videos at no cost.

I’ve heard so much about this and will have to look for the DVD. But it will be competing with SuperNatural at our house, and a greater contrast would be hard to imagine. . .;-)

I love the men even more than the hats….from Branson and Mason to Matthew Crawley and Mr. Bates. Don’t ask me to choose – I love them all!

Downton Abbey = a house filled with Real Men where Honor, courage, principle, and romance abound!

I have not seen this, having given period British series a rest after being blindsided by “Return to Cranford,” which was *based* on Mrs. G’s characters. But the lush costumes and adoring viewers tell me that this show is special. Will seek out a DVD collection!

Oh, thank god. I bought myself the series last Christmas, thinking it was a 1-season thing and almost threw my teacup at the TV with that cliffhanger.

I’ll probably wait for it to come out on DVD or streaming. I’m greedy and like to watch more than one episode at a time.
