Casual vendredi

What a crazy week it’s been! I’m so ready for a long weekend.

But next week petit monsieur goes back to school, and we can all settle back into some semblance of routine.

Le monsieur and I have begun making travel plans for next year. (When you use Frequent Flyer miles, it helps to book far in advance.) More about our destination(s) next week.

And speaking of Fabulous Destinations, you have entered the FabOverFifty 8-night luxury Paris giveaway, haven’t you??  I’m already envious of whichever one of you will be the lucky winner.

Does your schedule settle down this time of year, or just get busier?

  1. Wonderful ensemble, Une Femme! I am loving the pointy toes.
My schedule doesn’t change much year-round, but just now we are moving my mother into Assisted Living and our days are much fuller than usual. I look forward to early morning blog reading as a little vacation!

  2. Great choices, Pseu. I want the boots. My life will slow down in the fall. In the summer, I try to take advantage of every beautiful day and all the opportunities that summer affords us. It is such a short season here. But I love upstate New York in fall, too.

  3. I can’t wait to hear your travel plans. We are hoping for a “city” trip next summer: Vienna, Budapest, maybe one other East European, and–of course–Paris. Lucky you to have enough frequent flyer miles.

  4. Great outfit! And I really like the little photos identifying each component right below — much easier than clicking to Polyvore to find out what’s what.
We’re also thinking about next year’s trip, although we’re not going to try to do it on miles so not in a big rush to book — can’t wait to hear where you’re going.

  5. Love the leopard of course! Life is about to ramp up into high gear, which I am not looking forward to. Part of the reason is I’ll be back in CA and also will be back to my “normal” life.

  6. Wonderful outfit! I love that it is soon (or, by fact already today) cool enough to wear scarves again!

My life slows down during summer. All the things I am doing (sport, choir, Yoga)stop during the school break – 6 weeks – and start again in two weeks, as the school break is over. But I am looking forward to it.

  7. Love the little touch of green with those great boots.

I feel like I am always busy no matter what time of the year.

Looking forward to hearing about your travel plans!

  8. Love the ensemble you have put together. Already own a leopard scarf (timeless!), the Raymond Weil watch you have selected and Kelly Calèche is my day fragrance. My husband chose it specially for me. He has a wonderful “nez.” Now all I need is the rest!!!

  9. Does my schedule settle this time of the year?
Definitely no. Daylight time shortens, and that means, that everything must be done in a shorter time.
Living in the countryside, we don´t just ” happen ” to leave the house to any activities after dark.

  10. If ONLY I could wear a scarf and jeans! It was 100 today, still in Bermuda shorts and sandals for the foreseeable future. My schedule has picked up in the last two weeks: took one daughter back to college last weekend, but the other, a high school senior, has started her volleyball season, so we have had tournaments the last three weekends and start twice-weekly games next week.

But whispering in the background of the blur of activity is the question of “what will happen next year?”. No kids at home for the first time since 1993! What will I do? I don’t have a “real” job any more, I do a little accounting work for a small company but I work from home, and it’s not very many hours. So it will be kind of a blank slate for me. No one to take care of, since Mom died last year and the kids will be in college. So what will I do? The one answer that really concerns me is, “nothing”. I’ve realized in the last few years that it’s easy to do nothing….you don’t set out to do nothing, but one day flows into another, filled with little day to day tasks, until you realize that a year has passed, and you didn’t really DO anything. And then two years, and three……

  11. I would love this outfit to wear and I would love cooler weather to wear it in! The hurricane left us with temps in the 100s, but that is nothing compared to what some others are dealing with!
Have a great weekend! Cannot wait to hear where you are going!

  12. Oui! I did entry, grâce à vous! Wouldn’t that be lovely? It would be a far cry from my usual trip with 8th graders, that’s for sure. Yes, schedule settles down. Routine returns when I return to the classroom and my nest empties. My petit monsieur is a sophomore in college. Thanks for the lovely blog.

  13. Dear Tish,
I’m just back (in Hobart, Tasmania) from visiting a big exhibition in Melbourne of art and fine art from the Napoleonic period. It was wonderful! And there at the heart of it, in amongst some sensational jewellery, was the beautiful Breguet touch watch that figured as your blog ‘logo’ until … well, some time before I got home. It is exquisite, and beautifully encapsulates the kind of life you would like us all to live.
Thank you for your enjoyable blog. The new image is lovely too. But I’m dreaming of Malmaison.
    Best wishes, Robyn

  14. “Does your schedule settle down this time of year, or just get busier?”

Hmmm… I am a high school teacher and school starts on Tuesday! After a lovely summer spent hanging out, traveling and gardening, my schedule gets quite a bit busier.

  15. I love all the grey in this look. It generally takes my household two weeks to adjust to all the ‘new school year’ schedules–my own, my daughter’s and the grandson’s. It is nice to have a breather this weekend.
