I’m so sorry…
…but due to an absolute deluge of robo-spammers in the last few hours, I’ve had to dis-allow anonymous commenting.

Val, I’m on Blogger. Just go to Settings/Posts and Comments and change the setting under Who Can Comment.
I’m glad you are doing this. But, I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with the robots.
Completely undertandable. Funny – I rest on the park bench exactly like the woman in your photo.
It helped a lot when I stopped allowing anonymous comments. Good luck.
I wish I could do that with Blogger. You’d think that would be an option.
Im increasingly frustrated by same. Thinking of going back to word veri, which everyone hates.
No apologies needed – you’ve got to mind the store!
The word verification widget WendyB uses is a lot of fun for everyone!
Lynnski, I like that one too but it doesn’t seem to be available on Blogger.
I trap ’em – or most of them – by changing my settings to moderate comments on posts more than 21 days old. I have several regular commenters who, for reasons of their own, comment anonymously, so I don’t want to shut them out. I just go in my moderation queue and delete them enmasse.
The spam is annoying, and I honestly can’t understand why they do it. Why would a potential “customer” click on a garbled mess of mashed-up words and symbols, anyway? Yes, I know about the theory that for every gazillion they churn out, maybe one pays off, but jeez.
Aunt Snow, I’ve been moderating all comments which does prevent them from being published. However last night I had to wade through about 75 spam comments (all received within a couple of hours) to get to the valid ones. Assez!
I have exactly the same problem and will be disabling mine this morning. It really works. I have tested it and I rarely get genuine anonymous comments.
That’s too bad. Why do people do that crap?
I have the same problem. I guess I will be forced to go this direction. It is so annoying. Takes the fun out of what we are doing.
I get them, too, and I pull them – but only after I read the hysterically garbled English they seem to think is going to go completely unnoticed LOL

This seems to have become an awful problem for many bloggers. I, too, have a blog but one so new no one out there knows about me yet so haven’t had this problem. Hope I never do!
I leave comments on many blog sites that use word verification and do not mind this at all. I think people understand why this has become necessary. It’s too bad but such is life on the Internet.

I had a problem last week just before I left for Europe and had to get mon mari to help me as I am very much a novice. It’s sad.

Heh.
I’m so fed up with spam…If I don’t have moderation and word verification, you should see how much I get! A lot of it is “smart” spam now, not done by robots, so it’s harder to trap it with the anti-spam programs. Spammers are very attracted to the word “jewelry,” apparently!
