Beauty Tip du Jour

Lippies
My two favorite lipstick lines: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine and Dior Serum de Rouge

On Saturday, I enjoyed my first Girls Day Out in quite a while with Karen. We had brunch, and did some shopping, attended a Beauty Event™ at Bloomingdales, and then shopped some more. We hadn’t seen each other in months, and had a blast catching up.

The Beauty Event™ was mostly a chance for the major skincare/makeup lines to promote their latest products, but we did get lots of free samples, and I came away having learned one new makeup tip: when you apply lip color, rather than starting in the middle and working out, apply from the outer corners of the lips and work in toward the center. This results in a fuller-looking lip. I don’t know why, but it does seem to work!

So that’s your new Beauty Tip for the day. Give it a try and let me know whether you get the same result.

If you’re wary of lip color in general, I recommend both of these as they’re sheer and hydrating. The Dior especially is great for dry lips and stays on a long time.

    1. I’ll try it too. I’m blessed to have naturally full lips (on trend for the moment).

I still blanche a bit at a $34 tube of lipstick! But, hydrating and long lasting both sound great!

  1. A transparent wax lipliner is great for stopping lipstick from bleeding – also easier to apply than one with color. Several companies make them – you can buy them at Sephora or Ulta.

  2. I always apply primer on my upper lip line. This keeps my lip pencil or lipstick from going into any tiny lines that will likely get worse with age. You don’t need to spend $30.00 for great lipstick. Revlon Lip Butters are fantastic and come in beautiful colors. (Though I do splurge occasionally. I have, for example T. Le Clerc pressed powder that I carry….)

  3. Guess this technique assumes you’re using a mirror 🙂
I like Lancome lipsticks but nothing-and I mean nothing-lasts like CoverGirl Outlast! I use it when I can’t retouch or want colour that does not budge through a meal.

  4. I’m gonna try that tip today! I too love Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shine–finally a lipstick I use every day and love! My favorite shade is No. 65, Cavaliere. XO, Jill

  5. I´ll try the tip you shared.
I buy all my makeup from the Chanel stand. Simple and easy, as there are all too many brands to choose from.
Cool to have everything packed in a similar way.
30 dollars much ? We have to pay much more over here in Finland.
    Life in Finland is expensive.

  6. I tried the trick but old habits die hard. Outside in on the liner seems natural to me. Super fun day Pseu!!
