Good Morning, Las Vegas…

Vegas morning

After a sleepless Saturday night due to rowdy nightclub noise until 4:30am, we asked to change rooms yesterday, and were upgraded a bit. The new room is higher, faces a different direction and is VERY quiet. Weather today is cooler, windy and there’s even a chance of rain this afternoon.

I’ll admit, I always have a better time here than I anticipate. I’m not into gambling or shows, and really dislike being around so much cigarette smoke. But we always have some lovely meals, do a bit of shopping, and I have a dear friend who lives here and we always get together for brunch and catch up.

Here are some random sights from the last couple of days…

The Conservatory at Bellagio always has such wonderful and imaginative decorations, and this charming Green Man was no exception.

  1. We love going to Las Vegas even though neither of us gamble nor smoke, but we can see some great shows, wonderful meals and we both love to people watch, too. It is sort of this manufactured city that in its own way is sort of surreal. A nice escape for a few days.

  2. Here in Edinburgh, we will be stalking and murdering the Green Man on Thursday night, our Hallowe’en sticks to its pagan roots.
Club Noise – oh boy can’t handle that anymore, never could really.

  3. My husband is trying to convince me to go to Las Vegas with him….you are helping to convince me some what. Jury is still out! But I do love your view!

  4. Las Vegas is NOT my kind of place. I find gambling to be repugnant and cigarette smoke gives me asthma. However, I ended up accompanying my husband there a few years ago to give him support as he was speaking at a legal conference. The conference was at The Four Seasons, which wasn’t bad. And like you, we had some lovely meals. I managed to escape even seeing any gambling until we found that our flight home had been cancelled and we would have to wait until the next morning for another (6am) flight. AA put us up in a hotel, and while the room was fine, we had to walk through a casino to reach it. I ended up seeing what I was trying to avoid. I will never go back UNLESS my husband has to speak there. He doesn’t like LV any more than I do and I would probably go to keep him company. I guess this is an instance of everyone being different. Your husband chose it for a celebration, so it must have some appeal.

  5. We are Dutch and my husband would very like us to go to Las Vegas sometime with his American cousin and his wife. I’m reluctant, maybe because of me being prejudiced. Thank you Pseu for your story, I think my experience will be the same as yours! I will give it a try!

  6. Ah dear Sweet Femme, I feel as though I’ve had a little holiday too, so nice of you to share. Do you mind if I share that photo of the mascara bag on my blog? I absolutely love it. Bless xx

  7. I also enjoy visiting LV. Last time we were there to see Elton John’s show. It was amazing! As is the Mad Greek. But only the one on the road. The others just don’t have the right patina. LOL

Have you ever checked out the Williams-Sonoma outlet in Primm. That’s the place I go to fill in my Apilco dinnerware collection.

  8. I am not a big fan of Vegas, probably I would love it when I was in my 20s but it is just too much for me. I love the shows and the lights at night but it is not something that I would want to do again, at least not in the next 5 years! Anyway, those oysters just made my day and love the cute pouch with funny captions only us female can relate to 🙂

  9. Hi, we have just returned from a trip to the US ( we live in Australia) and spent 5 days in Vegas. We had no preconceptions about the place, and neither of us likes gambling, however we had the the most memorable and exciting time there. We shopped, people watched, ate beautiful food took tours to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam and outlying areas. We also went to some shows and checked out other hotels, it’s lovely just to walk through them. Hubby and I are 54 and 66 and tell everyone it was fantastic, blingtastic and cheaptastic in every sense. Loved it!
    Love your blog.

  10. Like many, would not choose this destination but many years of marriage (and wanting more) have resulted in learning that guys also get to pick destinations and often when “along for the ride” I end up having a far better time than I thought. Therefore, have seen more backwoods lodges than I’d ever wish, and would take Vegas over those, any time.

  11. Hmm… maybe Las Vegas would be more fun than I previously thought… My mum, brother and sister in law went a couple of years ago and really liked it – they took a Grand Canyon tour and went to a big musical.
