N’Oubliez Pas…
Tish’s book Forever Chic: Frenchwomen’s Secrets for Timeless Beauty, Style, and Substance is being released in the US this week! I’ll have a review for you as soon as I’ve had a chance to devour read it.
I’d been working on a post for today, but our respite care person for jeune homme yesterday was a no-show, so my carved out writing time went right out the window. We did manage to get him in for a haircut though, so all was not lost.
Oh, and in case you still need to beef up your fall wardrobe, J.Crew is offering 25% off and free shipping with code SHOPNOW. Today’s the last day of this offer.
Have lovely lundi, and I’ll be back with that post tomorrow.

I’m also looking forward to Tish’s book… And oh, how the best laid plans can escape us at times, and not necessarily a matter of our planning either… Derailed, derailed, derailed.
😉
So sorry to hear that your day did not go as planned, but your resourcefulness is to be admired. Will return to read your review of Tish’s book.
I am looking forward to your review of this book!
I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and the media (17 magazine and every TV program) delivered the message that unless I looked like a blond, blue-eyed California girl, I wasn’t right.. Nothing has changed except now I must be like a French woman.
Sigh.
How long before being a stylish Chicagoan, who owns her own business, raises money for lung cancer research, has lived in two foreign countries, speaks two languages and whose friends say is clever is enough? This French thing seems an affectation and is starting to grind on me,
Neats, I don’t think anyone is saying you “must” be like a Frenchwoman. If the book doesn’t interest you, that’s fine. I do think though that it’s possible to admire and learn from other women’s style and still be secure in our own.
Neats, I think it is simply a matter of learning from other cultures. That isn’t a one-way street. There is a very chic and powerful middle-aged Chicagoan lady who gets a great deal of media attention – and praise – in France, for her self-assurance, success in her own right and unique style. Obviously she isn’t the “typical Chicagoan”, but who is? There is no more any such thing as a typical Parisienne.
In French, you’d be a Chicagoane (I’ve never heard “Chicagolaise”) http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentil%C3%A9_de_Chicago
Love the flower necklace. I seem to be into statement jewellery at the moment. Will be interesting to see what I can find in St. Tropez market next week.
I’m sorry you missed out on your planned writing time but glad to hear jeune homme’s haircut outing was a success. Tish’s book looks like fun. I’ll look forward to your review.
Just wanted to let you know that gilt (dot) com has some Eileen Fisher items listed on sale today! Might be something you need……
Sorry you missed out on your day’s plans. I think that book is going to be fabulous.
I just noticed yesterday that there is an Eileen Fisher outlet just down the street from my house. I immediately thought of you. 🙂 I’m going to go check it out this weekend.
I Love that necklace!
