Outfit: Details, Details
I promised to show you what was in the shopping bag. Sometimes the difference between “meh” and “wow” is in the details. Take this Nanette Lepore sweater for example: it could easily be just another grey cardigan, but the lace insets add visual oomph, and the seaming in front gives it a nice tailored shape. The zippered closure is an upgrade from the usual buttons.
This sweater works with jeans and a tank for a casual look, but also with slacks and a long-sleeved tee for the office. And yes, it’s absolutely going to Paris with me next year!
The boots from Donald J. Pliner are also simple in design, but the metallic finish is a detail that takes them a step up from ordinary.
Cardigan: Nanette Lepore / Tank: Eileen Fisher / Jeans: Eileen Fisher (similar) / Boots: Donald J. Pliner (similar) / Earrings: Pearl Paradise (similar)

Gorgeous! You made a great purchase…unique piece, looks fabulous on you, and creates a personal style…love it!
I agree with Pam, a fabulous sweater that you’ve made your own. Gorgeous boots too.
Loving you in Nanette Lepore! Jeans and boots are fab too.
Luuuufff this cardigan; to me a perfect garment: sexy without being “ho”, yet (with a more covered tee under), could also be almost sedate. Could go anwhere, Interesting without being overdesigned. (WHY are there not more clothes like this?) And you wear it beautifully! And of course I adore the earrings!
Pretty cardi! You’re right, it’s in the details that make a neutral cardi so much more exciting to wear.
That cardigan is way more edgy and fun with the lace detail and those booties are sumptuous and sexy!
What a darling jacket. So flirty with the lace panels!
Thank you so very much for joining me and Jill for this month’s How I Wear My: Jeans. I love your photo on the Vespa!
Oh no, now I want this cardigan too. You are so bad/wonderful for showing it to us. Wow! I love the lace insets so much. What a great touch. Thank you SO much for joining us for “How I Wear My: Jeans” and thank you for the mention! XO, Jill
You are looking fabulous these days! Beautiful pieces put together in your own unique way.
Very cute! you look great, Sue!
What a perfect look for Paris! I was there last year at this time… and my heart actually aches for it! Thank you for sharing your new pieces!
I love the contrast between the romantic lace inserts and the utilitary zipper. Based on your outfit photos on the blog, the cardigan perfectly embodies your style: reinvented classic tailoring with an edge and a subtle hint of delicate feminine influences.
Your look is gorgeous, I love the jacket, with those precious details encjae, how wonderful. It is great with the all black ensemble. Magnificent.
Cool lace cardigan. You could really punk it up as well. But this overall chic look is fantastic, especially with the special metallic sheen of those stunningly silhouetted booties and ankle-hugging pants. Doesn’t matter how much I bling up my Meh, it remains Meh. Maybe I would feel differently if I had lots of diamonds or could accessorize with, say, a private jet.
Gawguss! I’m usually late commenting which means there are typically other comments expressing my thoughts, but I just wanted to say how much I love your style Susan.
Love the cardigan. The lace and zipper make it so unique.
