This And That…Romance

Do you love romantic movies and do you have a favorite? If so, pop over to Women’s Voices For Change and…

Tell us your favorite romantic movie and help Women’s Voices raise up to $25,000 for BabyHeart, the International Children’s Heart Foundation, which treats children in developing countries born with heart disease.

You get to nominate a favorite, and post a three-sentence review. I’m still trying to decide which is my favorite, but Paris je t’aime would have to be near the top of the list.

In other romantic news, I’ve found my new fragrance…

Serge Lutens Chergui
Serge Lutens Chergui

I loved it from first sniff, and love how it works on my skin. This to me is a more cool-weather scent as it’s very “warm.” Notes of honey, amber, sandalwood, musk, and rose are given just a bit of edge with note of tobacco (nowhere near as overpoweringly “tobacconist shop” as what Tom Ford does with his fragrances) just a hint enough to add a bit of mystery. This is a close-to-the-skin fragrance, doesn’t seem to have a huge sillage, and won’t knock over everyone within 3 feet. I’m definitely planning to visit the Serge Lutens boutique when we hit Paris later this spring!

And…if you want to keep the romance alive with your favorite shoes, a little maintenance goes a long way. Check out my post over at Already Pretty today!

  1. The scent sounds fabulous! Thinking of all of those together sounds heavenly. I featured the Babyheart drive yesterday on my site…such a good cause and I really like the way they are doing it with the romantic movie nominations! Well, the groundhog saw his shadow today…could we really be in for six weeks more of this intense weather?? I guess we should all bundle up and watch romantic movies…a marathon sounds fun!

  2. Oh I l actually love Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille but would actually like it to be a bit heavier on the tobacco side and less on the sweet vanilla, I do like this sound of this one as I don’t like florals.

  3. Oh, I love Serge Lutens’ perfumes! I always visit the boutique when I am in Paris; it is so pretty and the staff so nice and helpful. I took my sister-in-law, niece, and daughter to Serge Lutens last summer, all bought a fragrance, and we ended up going back a few days later for another fragrance each before we left.

I am currently wearing the newish La Fille de Berlin because I am crazy about rose-based perfumes; I also bought La Féminité de Bois which I wear when it is chilly (definitely a cold weather perfume). There are so many beautiful fragrances so plan on spending some time in the boutique. Since the boutique is right across from the Louvre, I recommend morning Louvre, lunch (and people watching) at Café Marly, and then an afternoon visit to Lutens followed by a leisurely stroll around the Palais Royale (hopefully the construction will be finished by the time you arrive).

    Bon shopping! Bon voyage!

  4. Ooh,the Serge Lutens sounds dreamy! I’m sure the Paris boutique is going to be one of the highlights of your trip. We have a trip coming up to Hawaii. Wish I could be as excited for it as I am about London and Paris. I know, 🙂 Bring on the romance movies!

  5. Oh, I love Serge Lutens perfumes! I visit the boutique every time I am in Paris and took my sister-in-law, niece, and daughter there for the first time last summer; all bought fragrances and liked them so much we went back for more a few days later. The boutique is beautiful, the staff is très gentil, and the array of perfumes intoxicating.

I am currently wearing the newish La Fille de Berlin; I’m just crazy about rose-based fragrances and like this one because it has a little ‘sass’ to it. I also purchased La Fémininité de Bois which I wear on chilly days (sadly, not many of them here in California this winter). I’ve also worn Sa Majesté la Rose, Un Bois Vanille and Iris Silver Mist in the past; sadly I am not capable of finding the proverbial ‘signature’ fragrance because I just love perfume too much.

Because the boutique is so close to the Louvre, I would recommend this as a perfect Paris day; Louvre in the morning, lunch (and people watching) at Café Marly, and then a visit to the Lutens boutique followed by a leisurely stroll around the Palais Royale. Ah…I’m sighing in pleasure just thinking about it.

    Bon shopping! Bon voyage!

  6. My all time favorite romantic movie will alway be “The Way We Were”. Having Barbra Striesand and Robert Redford in one movie together was one thing, but the story line and chemistry between them was quite another. If you haven’t seen it, you must!

For scents, I love Guelain’s Misook.

  7. Ooo.. samples! Perhaps une femme might pick up samples and have a little raffle of this heavenly-sounding scent upon her return? 🙂

  8. That perfume sounds interesting. I usually use an eau de toilette by a Parisian company called L’Aromarine. Actually, I think someone else bought them, and I can only find their things online.

I’ll go check out the link – I guess my favorite would be Strictly Ballroom (it’s my favorite in so many ways!).

  9. I love Chergui! On my list to buy, too. I’m also enjoying Chanel’s Cuir de Russe this winter. In the spring I’ll switch to Guerlain’s Apres L’Ondee.
