Beauty Finds: More “Le No Makeup Look”

Products for Le No Makeup Look
1. Shiseido “Urban Environment” Tinted UV Protector // 2. Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver // 3. Dior “Rosy Glow” Awakening Blush

Over our “getaway” weekend, I spent a few hours perusing the beauty departments at a couple of department stores. I know, it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it. 😉  Le monsieur even joined me for part of the time, and we both enjoyed complimentary mini-facials from SK II. (Monsieur is nothing if not a good sport.) I finagled some more samples to try, and played with a few cosmetics.

1. I’m always on the lookout for products that do double duty and save steps. This tinted sunscreen from Shiseido packs a mighty 43 SPF, and evens out skin tone. It’s lighter than a BB cream, but has more UV protection than most tinted moisturizers. Comes in three shades, and doesn’t seem to oxidize (turn orange) over time. The 1 oz. tube is a travel-friendly size.

2. For those who are always searching for that “My Lips But Better” color, this Dior “Glow” sheer lip color really is amazing. It looks very light/sheer pink in the tube, but when applied to the lips amplifies your natural color. It’s quite moisturizing and lasts a few hours. It’s a very natural effect, doesn’t look like you’re wearing lipstick.

3. The corresponding blush in the same Dior “Glow” line behaves similarly. Frighteningly neon pink in the container, it goes on very subtly, resulting in a very natural healthy looking glow.

  1. very nice! I’m always looking for “le no makeup look” products. These look spring-fresh and I’ll have to try them. My favourite right now is Jane Iredale mineral powder foundation.

  2. I love you for doing this! How do you like the Shiseido as opposed to the Nars tinted moisturizer? Do you find that the blush doesn’t look too powdery?

    1. Sybes, the NARS tinted moisturizer is more highly pigmented and has a lower SPF at 30. It has more options regarding shades, but I think the Shiseido tinted sunscreen goes on more sheer, so probably doesn’t require as close a match. the blush doesn’t look powdery at all (at least on my skin). It’s also very sheer when applied.

      1. Thank you Susan! (Sarah Harvey here). The Shiseido sounds nice. For what it’s worth, I use Revision Intellishade SPF 45 as my ‘foundation’–it is a tinted moisturizer and the tint blends in with one’s own natural color. (That being said I couldn’t tell you if it would work on a woman of color.) If I want a more polished look for nighttime I use the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, which has a lower SPF of 15. I use MAC’s cremeblend blush with their fabulous special blush brush.
I have trouble finding an eyeliner and mascara that stay put. I can’t bear to use powders so my eye make up tends to migrate.

  3. Clean beauty, all the way. I can’t even set foot in the toxic atmosphere of a department store; all the merchandise is contaminated from perfumes, clothes, purses, everything!

I like the website “No More Dirty Looks” for recommendations on clean products and am a fan of the RMS line for cheeks and lips.

  4. I am definitely going to try the Dior lipgloss, I’ve had my eye on that line for awhile but the colors all seem so bright in the container. Glad to know they are not so bright on the lips! If you end up trying Benefit Eye Bright, let me know what you think of it, they also make one in a golden color and I will be buying that next. XO, Jill

  5. I use SPF 50 (yes, I know it is a paranoid case here, lol!) tinted moisturizer by Kiehl’s, mascara from Peter Thomas Roth, lipstick/balm from Clinique and MAC blusher. That’s all. I too prefer l’e no make up look’ and concerntrate more on ‘le skincare’ instead 🙂 I want to go and check out that Dior lipstick one of these days.. sounds great 🙂

  6. I just discovered and bought the 2 Dior products – they are both kind of holy grail products for me now – look beautiful on.

I’ve recently changed from using opaque lipsticks to more translucent and moist ones, primarily since my lip volume is diminishing, I’d found that regular lipsticks were just making me look older (and putting a spotlight on my thinning lips). The lipsticks that I’m loving are L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse. They feel like butter on my lips and make me look way more youthful. I’ve also found that they leave a stain on my lips so that there is still some color apparent even after eating/drinking. The colors are very nice. Price is great also, especially since most of my former lipsticks ran in the $30 – $50 range.
