Joyeuses Pâques!

Happy Easter! And a bit of a belated Happy Passover to those who are celebrating. In our family, it’s become tradition to celebrate most holidays on whichever day the majority of family and friends are able to attend. So tonight is our big Passover Seder. As usual, I’ve made apple matzoh kugel.

Any recipe that starts with a dozen eggs can’t be all bad. 😉 I also wanted to practice using the iPad to compose blog posts. I’m hoping to travel with just the tablet rather than my laptop.

Yes, the oven needs cleaning. Please don’t judge me. 😉

In the oven. It browns at 450F for 15 minutes, then is covered and baked at 350F for another 40 minutes.

Deliciousness ensues.

Here’s the recipe. I usually add some golden raisins too, just for interest. This will serve 8-10. I made another 1/2 as there will be 17 guests tonight. If this will be served as a side dish to meat in a Kosher home, be sure to use parve margarine rather than butter. I’ll post my final travel wardrobe tomorrow, so do check back!

  1. This looks wonderful! I’m up for any dish that has baked apples in it. Happy Passover to you, your family, and friends.

  2. That looks sooo good but you would need to have a lot of people coming to serve it, I’d end up eating the lot otherwise. The blog post looks fine on my old iMac.

  3. We enjoyed a lovely, sunny Easter Sunday and Passover week in Central New York. So many people were dressed in spring frocks for services or Easter Sunday brunch. Our winter was so long that I think we wanted to celebrate spring even more ardently than usual. There was a chill in the breeze, but coats were cast aside and bright color was everywhere.

Your kugel looks wonderful. I haven’t had it in years and must try it.

  4. We did both, and had a great time. Passover is one of my family’s favorite meals and that kugel looks great. Yehuda happens to make a fantastic gluten free matzo (better than regular matzo) so we’ve been eating that. When do you leave on your trip?

  5. Thanks for sharing that recipe! It looks delicious! I might have to try that tomorrow. I need a new kugel recipe for Pesach. But I’ll cut it down for just the two of us. (But I also had a seder for 17 earlier in the week!)

  6. Happy Passover and Happy Easter! We have just enjoyed a very Spanish Semana Santa here in sunny Spain – though rain clouds are threatening today. No need to worry about your oven – it looks normal to me! – it just proves that you’re a real cook. The dish looks de-lish, but I doubt whether I could find all the ingredients here.

  7. You mentioned that you are traveling with your tablet and posting from there. Do you just use the WordPress app? So interested to know if I could do this…always feel I will be limited but your post looks great!
