Wild Card

Covered Perfectly 1

The first time I tried on this Covered Perfectly top, le Monsieur (who usually doesn’t offer unsolicited comments on what I’m wearing) said, “nice top!!” When I asked what he liked about it he said, “let’s just say it plays up your assets.”  Well alrighty then! 🙂

This is the Mandy top from Covered Perfectly*. I brought this along on our recent trip to France as one of my “wild card” pieces. Those of you who follow me on Instagram or Facebook saw it here,

Dinner in Amboise

from one of our evenings in Amboise, but it was just too chilly for a photo session sans jacket and scarf.

It’s a fun snake print that works as a neutral or a color, depending on what you pair it with. As with so many of the Covered Perfectly tops, the fabric is very light and incredibly soft. You can wash this one in the machine and hang to dry overnight, so it’s a great choice for travel. Because I’m so short the top fits me more like a tunic; on someone of average height it would hit higher on the hip. (And those of you who are tall will find these tops are plenty long enough.) The bracelet is the second that I purchased from Metal Pointu’s in Paris.

  1. You look great! I am tempted to get that snakeprint. Do you have any advice re the sizing? Their chart seems to run very large. I take a size 4 in the Adea V neck layering top: so, a medium here? a small? (Will those sizes be large enough in the bust for a 34G?)

    1. Judy, I’m wearing a Small here. I’d suggest that for specific questions about fit it’s best to contact Pauline at Covered Perfectly, who is very helpful with answering any questions you might have.

  2. Yes! it does play up your assets which are lovely. 😉 I need all the help I can get in that department.
Your blog is looking gorgeous as you are. Have a lovely weekend!

  3. Your Arche shoes are lovely..note that there is a very similar and comfortable style by Munro American called the Abby at a gentler price point. I found mine at Nordstrom. I am also a huge fan of Covered Perfectly! You look great and you illustrate that a judicious amount of animal print can work as a neutral instead of screaming “Golden Girls.”

    1. thanks, Alison! I have been craving the Exor but it is so pricey … those Munro Abbys look almost exactly the same! The heel is just a bit different. And they are comfortable too??

      1. Yes,I can report that they are comfortable! I usually wear wedge styles and this is that rare high-heel style that I can walk in.

  4. You look so pretty.
I just ordered top in Plus size hope it looks as good on me as it does you!
Told Pauline I saw it on your site.
I am about to go to New England for 10 days, Boston, Martha’s Vineyard, RI..
Do you really think I can get everything like you in a carry on?
I am trying to follow your example but all my girlfriend’s say I am nuts.
By the way how did you like your new luggage?
I can now get ” The things I love” which I was unable to get before, on the right side bar.
    Best regards, Kim

  5. The shirt, the white trousers and the shoes – a perfect ensemble!
I love all kinds of animal prints and the top is really gorgeous.

  6. I really like this top on you and it seems to be a great travel piece. Love the sandals, too!
My teenage daughter said “Mom, that’s a nice top. It would look good on you, too.”
Tee hee…. I’m a plus size, have auburn hair and am nearly 5′ 10″ tall. Cannot quite envision this on me, though.
Thanks for posting the outfit sans jacket and scarf.

  7. Wonderful looking outfit – Love the snakeprint top, and its perfect with the white trousers.

  8. Cool top – the only good thing about snakes is that pattern! The top looks good in a tunic length, and also looks so versatile and comfortable (not to mention asset-flattering!). You should promote it to a standard traveling piece rather than a wild card.

  9. That photo of you in Amboise with the top, the jacket and the scarf is absolutely exquisite. What a stunning outfit and setting. Would you consider a tutorial on how to tie your scarf that way? I’d be very keen to know how to do it!

    1. Hi Kat, thanks. I was sure I’d done a tutorial on this scarf arrangement, but can’t seem to find it now, so I’ll do another one soon!

  10. I “found” your blog awhile back when I started traveling for work — your recommendations have been invaluable! This is the first time I’ve left a comment, but I couldn’t let the snakeskin top with that necklace go without comment. Fabulous!

  11. I love a man who knows what he likes! Here you do not see the cami so high under, possibly a lower one with a bit of lace peek- even at work! Come on now, when you get home, try it as is 🙂
