Those of us of a certain age probably were first aware of Diane von Fürstenberg when she launched her now-iconic wrap dresses back in the 1970’s. Those dresses to me symbolized a powerful kind of femininity, and a sign of the times as women were entering the workplace in greater numbers than ever before.

She re-launched the line–including the wrap dresses–in 1997, has remained a force in the fashion industry as the President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and most recently became a spokesperson for the Ban Bossy campaign, which advocates for leadership roles for girls. Her designs continue to evoke a bold, confident woman who is comfortable with power.

Nordstrom carries an extensive selection of Diane von Fürstenberg clothing and accessories. Those of you who read this blog regularly know that I’m a big fan of Nordstrom. Their customer service is second to none, and they offer free shipping and returns, so if you’re uncertain of sizes, you’re not out shipping fees if you order multiples.

Here are some of my picks from the current Diane von Fürstenberg collection at Nordstrom:

  1. You and I have different preferences. I’m not a leopard print person, but I love, love, love DVF printed dresses. If anyone likes mixed patterns but hesitates about their choices, then DVF is the collection to shop. The patterns are dyed to match and IMHO great together.

I’d go with this “Paris” dress.

  2. Hooray this morning’s post came through as text and images! I usually get symbols and cannot read your posts on my IPad so whatever changes you have made are going to make it easier for me to comment.
DVF wrap dresses are a classic and for a gal with an hourglass figure they work well for me.
That bag is a great way to add leopard into ones wardrobe…

  3. DvF is in the fashion history books for good reason. And, like you, I enjoy Nordstrom; they opened a Nordstrom Rack across the street from me and it’s the only place I can find shoes in my (big) size (12).

  4. Have you noticed that the iconic **comfortable** fashion choices were designed by women for women? Diane von Furstenberg created a comfy beautiful style that is easy to care for. Coco Chanel brought us the LBD, Breton stripe top, bell bottom pants, and the box jacket. These designers actually acknowledge that women are curvy.

  5. I like both DVF of the past and present! She once personally applied my makeup when she had a cosmetics line- in the early ’80s- and she was absolutely enthralling, standing there in her stilettos, crooning to us starstruck women with that purring voice.
