Eileen Fisher Top, boyfriend jeans, Givenchy bag

The weather and my wardrobe are both in holding patterns for the time being. I’m trying to re-mix some of my lighter pieces and rely on accessories to freshen outfits until the weather cools enough to start layering again. This was my go-to outfit over the weekend; I’ve only recently come around to boyfriend jeans, and find them more comfortable in the heat than skinnies.

  1. I am so jealous you can wear these shoes…love them! I am about to turn over my entire closet…so i get what you are up to. Please stop by and enter my $1000 gift card giveaway for shopping with Lafayette 148 New York…I really think you would love the fall collection! Have an awesome day!

  2. My go to today as the UK weather is unusually still warm and dry was white straight leg jeans with a french navy silk and cotton Vnecked sweater, light coloured ballet flats and my reliable Longchamp pliable(navy). Love your look.

  3. Totally chic comfort, dear Femme. I had a flashback to some shoes I had back in the seventies, that were almost exactly the same style. We’re hoping for fall weather in Texas, but sadly it will be in the 90s this week.

  4. Mine is a similar weekend uniform. Getting a teen bit impatient to wear my skinny jeans and boots again, but it’s still too warm. Boyfriend jeans work and I’ve been getting much mileage from my white jeans as well. Reminding myself that once the cool and the wet show up, I’ve got many months for boots and sweaters!

  5. Great look and I truly love your blog even though since I have retired I do not have as much use for the work clothes look. Now if you would show us what you wear when you go out dancing!?
End of season here in PA and I have promised myself I will go though the closet and remove and donate any summer clothes I did not wear this year. Time to make some room…..

  6. Looks great! Curious to know how many pair of shoes you own. Am “trying” to simplify and cull the herd, but shoes are my weakness! What is a viable number?

    1. Thea, I find that shoes can be such a great way to add impact to a simple outfit. I tend to keep shoes for a long time, so probably now the answer is “too many.” 🙂 But overall I tend to rotate between about six pair depending on the season. If I wear heels one day, I alternate the next day or two with flats or low heels.

  7. I love your outfit–and I got those Clarks shoes and love love love them. Yours is definitely my go to outfit–since I’m retired now I dress in jeans and top or my trekking pants with SPF shirt for plein air painting. I love the boyfriend jeans and I agree they are much more comfortable in the warmer weather.
Like Diane I plan to go through my closet after Jan 1 and weed out what isn’t being worn! Definitely time to make room! Sally

  8. Those shoes! I love them!
I don’t really have a go-to weekend outfit right now. I have some new pieces from Stella Carakasi that I’ve been creating new looks with. It’s been lots of fun working with new colors, cuts and styles.
I find this time of year somewhat difficult to dress for, though. It’s high 40s in the mornings, then rising to the 90s by the afternoon. I am looking forward to cooler temps. In the meantime, I’ll just layer like crazy!

  9. Hi,
I have been reading with interest and need HELP with what to pack for a cruise around England and Baltic plus travel around England in April 2015. I have no idea what to take and don’t want to over pack. Please help as I am not very good with mix and match.
    Thanks
