I wanted to be sure it was working well before mentioning, but I’ve set up a new subscription service that will deliver blog posts directly to your email inbox. If you’d tried to subscribe in the past but either hadn’t received emails or didn’t like the format, do give this one a try. I think you’ll like it! In the Subscribe widget on the right, just enter your email and click the “subscribe” button. C’est tout! You’ll receive an email and will need to confirm/validate the subscription; once you do that you’ll start receiving email with the next published post. You may also unsubscribe at any time.

I’m now on my third rental car since “the bash.” The first car had mechanical problems, and the second one was filthy inside and smelled like an ashtray. (I’ve developed a theory that Big-Rental-Car-Company-That-Rhymes-With-Fred-And-Ethyl’s-Last-Name hands out the dregs in the fleet to insurance-paid renters. Just a theory, mind you.) After making a nuisance of myself for a few days at the local rental office, I succeeded in getting them to cough up a bare bones Nissan Versa, which is a pretty nice little car. It was clean inside and had no unwanted aromas. The good news is that repairs on my car are expected to be completed on schedule, late next week.

  1. Hi Susan, I totally get what you are saying about crew neck sweaters. I feel that way about turtlenecks – they just aren’t complimentary on me, but I keep trying to wear them. Need to do a sweater purge! Have you changed your blog page design recently? I love the feel of it and love your font choice.

  2. For me, V necked sweaters are the most flattering, but, for some reason, I find turtlenecks more flattering than crew necks. Turtlenecks are cozy in winter and V necks can be a bit chilly.

  3. I guess the squeaky wheel finally gets the un-squeaky wheel then. I had a Versa rental once, it was fairly nice and zippy even though it was bare bones.

  4. Fred and Ethel’s cousins rented me a full-size dog (rhymes with podge) last week while I was on a business trip in the upper midwest. The brake light came on when I had to stop at a light and it sounded like a hard-run sewing machine when attempting full speed (over 20k miles on the odometer). So it isn’t just the insurance-paid renters getting the (drive) shaft.

As for sweater styles, when the cold wind blows, I don’t care that I have a short neck. A turtleneck keeps out the draft.

  5. I stocked up on the long v-neck tunic style sweater similar to the one you featured (far right, top line) at Macy’s yesterday. The loose style and comfy feel will be my go-to sweater this winter. Love its forgiving middle and overall flattering style.
