dramatically comfortable
I’m not going to lie; thanks to the sugary, salty, boozy things that have crossed my lips the last couple of weeks, I’m feeling a wee bit bloated and gravitating toward comfortable (but still work appropriate) outfits. Once again it’s Eileen Fisher to the rescue.
Wearing (or similar):
Those are my trusty ponte knit jeans (I recommend sizing up as they seem to run smaller than other EF pants) and open front tropical suiting jacket (still available and on mega sale at NM). I’ve worn this jacket about twice a week on average since purchasing earlier this year. Don’t let the fact that it’s polyester put you off; it looks, feels and drapes like silk. Then, things get interesting. I’d tried on this Eileen Fisher printed silk tunic several times and loved it, but hesitated to purchase as it seemed like exclusively a warm weather piece. But a few weeks ago I saw one of the EF sales associates wearing it over a long sleeve tee and Bingo! It looked great and that was all the reassurance I needed. The frisson between destructed plaid print and soft ethereal fabric and shape feeds my need for a little drama and movement. I love the interest it adds to a basic outfit.
Sunglasses are from Tom Ford…my long-time optometrist was clearing space for new spring inventory and offered me the frames at half off. They fit like a dream and I love how they look.
The leather cuff is vintage, purchased several years ago. More Hermés “Collier de Chien” cuffs here.
Are there pieces in your wardrobe that you’ve found are more versatile than you originally imagined?

Oh yes, stretch trousers and a tunic… currently my preferred or “only” look! I think I better start my New Year’s resolutions today 😉
You look very stylish though! Your bag and bracelet add a special touch to your outfit.
Enjoy your sunny weather… putting my down coat and gloves on for another round of shovelling snow…

Feeling the same way…I go to weigh in this morning and I am not looking forward to it. I love the silk tunic and your glasses…looks great. I am into EF more and more.
Love that short over long look. Very elegant and edgy at the same time.
WhAt a great way of letting your inner rebel express herself while still looking chic and work-appropriate! Looks as if you must have successfully replaced your tripod.
Frannces, thanks, and yes I did purchase a tripod but it’s going back today. It’s one of those “ball head” kinds and I don’t like it at all. Doesn’t lock sufficiently when the camera is tilted in portrait orientation (poor design!), so I kept having to re-position. >:-/
You look fab as always. Love those Tom Ford sunglasses! It’s worth the investment to get a good pair. Lucky you to get these at half off!
Very nice pieces. I like the sunnies, too.
The tunic is beautiful, glad you rethought the purchase. I’m with you on the bloat…by the time the holidays are over I’m ready for it so I can get my body back to normal. 🙂

You look great – I love every piece and how they work together! Not always a fan of all black but you’ve got enough interest here for a chic and comfy look!
Love your black jacket especially with the boots. And I love that tunic with whatever you have on under it. (cami? tee shirt?) I really like that the tunic has a kind of “distressed” look. And you, my dear, do not look “distressed” in the least… just cool and calm and all rocker-chick chic.
Hi Susan, thanks! Forgot to mention the tee underneath…it’s from last year and I can’t find it online. It’s a scoop neck silk tee, 3/4 sleeve. This one has a similar shape and would probably work well underneath the tunic too: http://bit.ly/1CNACm8
Bonjour Susan. You always look so stylish to me… un peu comme une Parisienne. 🙂 I like to linger on the first photo where you introduce your outfit, before I go on and find out about the different pieces. Bloated or not, you look fabulous, ma chère! I hope the Holidays are treating you well. Bonne année 2015 and Happy Blogging! — Véronique (French Girl in Seattle)
I’ve been mooning over that plaid tank myself–I’m always a wee bit bloated (i.e. have some tummy).
I think we’re all feeing a bit chunky right now! But you looks totally fabulous. I really need to add some EF to my wardrobe this year.

Love this, and the subtle plaid is so chic. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday and happy new year to you. xox
You look fabulous. And you have an impeccable ability to edit, which I believe is even more important for those if us who are not tall.
EF is wonderful any time of year; no more so than when the abundance if sugary-salty goodies are out (around here, too)…
Great print, style, and fabric to your tunic. I frequently discover (through other bloggers) pieces in my closet that are much more versatile than I ever realized. That’s a fun revelation.
I feel your pain and have been wearing leggings and tunics/sweaters these days. Tomorrow I am headed back to work and it will be a challenge to figure out what to wear. Love this tunic on you.

Love your look and how you played with layering! Oh! I have eaten a lot too and I try to fit in my tight clothes to stop eating…

Your title sums this outfit up perfectly. Dramatically Comfortable, it is.
I think many of us our feeling the sting of over indulgence from the sweets department…I am! You chose a wonderful look to mask the evidence, and you look fantastic. Love the details of the tunic. Head to toe chic. Happy New Year!

Clever girl … but, so what else is new? As always, a subtle and elegant outfit, but I’m completely knocked out with that beautiful tunic! Sigh. I could look at your cuffs every day. Versatile indeed.
I ate my weight in salty savories and have been craving cupcakes since I had several during Christmas proper. I share your bloat!
We’ll be better after the holidays, of course!
Speaking of that, Happy New Year, kiddo.
I love the cuff.. it is definitely an investment! Wishing you a happy and joyous new year!
If you don’t mind my asking, what size is your jacket? Thanks!
Hi AL, it’s a 6P.
I feel the same! Holidays are evil. lol!
Love the black on black on black here.
You’d never guess you were feeling bloaty and uncomfortable ‘cos you look fabulously chic and trim. Love the floaty tunic and that killer cuff and I’m thrilled to meet another hipster – you definitely don’t conform to type either! xxx
Aw, you’re too kind. Thank heaven for knit pants. 😀
The cuff. To die.
Thanks CR! It was a very lucky find.
