well this is clever…

fitbit bracelet
Tory Burch wrap bracelet for Fitbit

If you’re using a Fitbit to help monitor and increase your activity levels* but would love to have a more stylish option than a rubber bracelet, Tory Burch is now offering a leather wrap bracelet that works with your Fitbit tracker. It’s available in a few colors, and there’s also an all metal version.

*several of my co-workers are using these and track not only their own activity but that of their “team” and find it very motivating. I’m tempted, especially now that this attractive option is available.

Do you use a Fitbit or other activity tracking app?

  1. I have to say that I am probably back in the dark ages as I use a pedometer to track steps as walking is my favorite go-to exercise. This is certainly a more fashionable option and I suspect we will see many more in the days to come. Good for Tory Burch for getting ahead of the pack!

  2. i started wearing my fitbit in late october of 2013 and have walked over 2,500 miles so far. i NEVER don’t make my 10,000 steps. i love earning a new “badge” for my efforts and find the device highly motivational. i just use the very most basic model and don’t track my sleep habits or anything but the steps. my friends are amused by my obsession with getting my steps and with the fact that whenever i am on the phone, i am walking, round and round in my house. whoever thought the telephone could be a piece of exercise equipment?

  3. I’ve owned 3 of them and loved them. The company is great to work with but they are easy to lose! They just slip off your are because of the poor clasp. This is as expensive as the Fitbit though!

    1. Hi! Suggest you check out eBay; there are many, many FitBit band sellers there, You can get bracelets, with out without clasps, for several dollars apiece, and some vendors offer them in lots of 3 or 6. There are also vendors selling only clasps. Way cheaper than ordering from FitBit.

  4. I love my Fitbit. Sort of. The weekly count sometimes reminds me of what a sloth I can be. On the other hand, I have earned some really fun badges, e.g. mostly related to stair-climbing. My sister and sometimes get into a friendly competition, to see who can garner the most steps in a given week. We feel good about ourselves (in that middle-aged way) until my niece (a senior at Mt. Holyoke College) blows us out of the water with her weekly count… 🙂 I would like one of the Tory Burch Fitbit bracelets, but the price will have to come down considerably before I would even dream of purchasing one…

  5. My FitBit is on a turquoise rubber band, light, waterproof and flexible. I’d like to road test the TB one, but overall, I think it’s fine to let the FitBit be what it is. If you don’t want to wear one on your wrist, there is a model you can put in your pocket or even pin on your bra. I love the FitBit- it keeps me active.

  6. I also like the Fitbit and it keeps me honest about exercising, but durability is not its strong suit. I’ve had mine only two months and the wristband is pulling apart. Other colleagues report the same experience.

  7. I love my Fitbit — just the basic clip on version. It’s very motivating and especially fun when travelling because we walk a lot — usually up over 25,000 steps a day….which helps with our other favorited aspect of travel, involving food and wine!

  8. I’ve been wearing a Jawbone UP band for about a year and a half. It’s a terrific motivator. Even better, after I wore it for a few months my husband mentioned that he would be interested in wearing one, so now he’s motivated too. I take mine off my wrist and loop it around my fingers at night, and it has helped encourage me to focus on getting enough sleep. (I set it to 7.5 hours rather than the default 8.) While it might be nice to have something more stylish than my grey bracelet, I’m fine with it. It also serves as kind of a secret handshake among those who wear them, which can be a nice conversation opener.

  9. I have the clip on fitbit “One”, but I don’t wear it in my bra, I clip it inside my shirt pocket. It is motivational, but mine had some technical hiccups, but they were easily fixed by rebooting (the stair climb count went crazy, logging 40 to 50 flights when in fact no stairs had been climbed). When researching the fix for that, found out that sadly, the calorie burn counter does not increase for stair climbing, but just counts stairs as steps. Oh well, can’t have everything. The sleep tracker is very educational regarding sleep patterns and hours actually slept, so there is that. I’m happy with it.

  10. I have a Fitbit One, so it clips discreetly inside my pocket. I find it very motivational and educational. I am committed to fitness, running several times a week and walking for most errands within 1.5 miles of my house, but the Fitbit made me realize that some days I am shockingly sedentary, so I am trying to remedy that. I don’t love the social media aspect of it, and have “friended” only my sisters. While I do find the challenges they issue fun and motivating, some weeks I am content to let them win.

  11. This was a timely post as I received my Fitbit Flex almost a week ago! I think I know what I’ll be suggesting for my next birthday present now……..

I bought my fitbit to help monitor my sleep patterns as sometimes I have very restless nights and also to motivate me to walk more. I have looked at logging my food, however the choices all seem to be American so I may leave that for a while. Once I work out the calorie content of some of my favourite meals I will give it another shot. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase.

  12. I wear a simple clip on Fitbit – my husband and I gave each other one for Christmas. I’ve worn a pedometer for years, but this Fitbit is smaller and I don’t think the clip will break any time soon which always happened with the other pedometers.

  13. I’ve had a Fitbit for about 1 1/2 years. I have the clip on version, because I didn’t want to wear a rubber bracelet all the time (so not fashionable, I thought!). I probably don’t make the best use of it, but it is helpful in making me notice how active…or not…I am being.

  14. I like the fitbit but not the strap – I always feel like I’m under “house arrest” when I’m wearing it – and, as others have mentioned, it’s not very durable. I do admit to doing a few laps around my living room before bed to make up my 10,000 steps though! Waiting to see what Apple’s new offering looks like before I commit to a designer strap……

    1. Happiness, moving more will benefit your weight loss goal and a FitBit makes it more fun and motivating. “Eat a bit less, move a bit more” was my mantra for losing; it works. May I also recommend the (free) site MyFitnessPal? best of luck.

  15. I like the look of the bracelet just for the bracelet. I too use a pedometer. Would like to up grade to a Fitbit, but several people at my gym complain they aren’t very accurate as far as capturing steps or movement, especially on workout equipment so I have shied away. from purchasing one. Some good insight on the comment section i wasn’t aware of.

    1. @Karen: FitBit primarily tracks step movement. There is an easy option for manually logging your non-stepping exercise like cycling, yoga, or weightlifting. The FitBit site tells you how, and it’s easy.

  16. I use the health app on my I phone. This is a much better option. Thank you for all your wonderful blogs. I will be in Paris on May 3 for a couple of weeks. If I see you walking by my people watching cafe I will give you a big Bon jour!!

  17. Duchesse, good to know. I will pass info along and may look into a Fitbit. Linda, going to Paris? How wonderful, I hate you, LOL.

  18. I have a completely unfashionable but rather high-tech watch (TomTom) that I use to track my running. Before that, I managed quite happily with an app on my phone when I wanted to know mileage of a long run, but honestly, I’m a bit leery about the whole digitizing-my-life trend. I’ve already found that I’ve hooked myself into wearing the watch and becoming perhaps more conscious of running to its dictates than to what my body says — good when I want to push myself, but still. . .
For those who like wearing the Fitbit more regularly, that is a very stylish adaptation!

  19. I have been using a Misfit Shine for the past 3 months. I wear it on its magnetic fob, which can be attached to a garment or shoelace, or else tuck it into a pocket or bag. You can synch it to MyFitnessPal so that the calories you “earn” from exercise are automatically calculated into MyFitnessPal’s equations. The whole gamification of fitness adds a bit of fun and motivation to the otherwise very real challenge of battling the midlife metabolism slowdown!

    1. Christine…are you saying that you don’t have to wear it on your wrist? I wear my pedometer on my waist. It is a bit cumbersome, however. I think you get more accurate readings near the hip rather than the wrist. Is Misfit Shine another type of Fitbit? You said you use a magnetic fob. Does it stay put? I really love MyFitnessPal. Both the use of a pedometer type device and the MFPal really show shocking numbers, don’t they?

  20. I don’t mind the strap at all…I pile on bracelets with it during the day, tres chic! I think it’s a conversation starter, and have a few “friends” on my Fitbit account who keep me motivated. I previously had the one I clipped on my bra, but I sent it through the wash a few too many times. It does keep me motivated, and aware of sloth-like behavior- especially this cold, miserable winter in the norteast!

  21. I am the LEAST athletic person in the world. I was challenged by someone at work to join a team and track steps, so I got the Fitbit clip on, and I swear it has changed my life. I am not exaggerating. I now walk a minimum of 15,000 steps/day, and because I am doing so, I am also much more in tune with what I am eating. I am so grateful to the person who invited me to join the team. The clip on can go on my bra or waistband of my pants, so I don’t have to be public about it. I LOVE it.

  22. The Tori Burch bracelete only works with the fitbit flex. I use the fitbit charge that also monitors sleep and heart rate. It also vibrates when someone calls and tells me who it is. The mechanism is not removable like the fitbit flex and therein lies the problem. I also don’t think the fit bit flex is a watch whereas the other models above it are.
