Eileen Fisher ankle pants
travel companion: Eileen Fisher tencel ankle pants

I was so happy to see that Eileen Fisher brought back these tencel ankle pants this year. If you’re planning some warm weather travel these are definitely worth a look. They were my most-worn pants in Hong Kong last year, and I’m planning to include them for this year’s trip to the UK and Europe in late Spring. They’re lightweight, comfortable and washable and look great with both casual and smart-casual outfits.

Readers of That’s Not My Age will be familiar Alyson Walsh’s witty, insightful observations on style, fashion, aging and culture. Her book, Style Forever: How to Look Fabulous Every Age is being released in the US tomorrow and I can hardly wait to get my hands on a copy! The illustrations she’s shared look fabulous, and I love her take on style at any age. I was fortunate to meet Alyson when we visited London in 2013, and she was as delightful in person as on her blog.

How’s your week shaping up?

  1. I did not like my tencel pants – they totally stretched out after a few hours and I needed a belt just to keep them up. I much preferred the Aspire ankle pant by Athleta which kept it’s shape, dried quickly and has zippered pockets, which made it great for travel.

  2. I have not been thrilled with the trend toward ankle pants. I find them to be somewhat awkward. My suspicion is that they represent a clever way for the manufacturers to save dollars through using less fabric.

  3. I am a constant reader of your blog….have been an Eileen Fisher “fan” since the 80’s…and many of the items you post I own…which is why I relate to your blog…your style . I would love to know which packing feature would be the most helpful for me for the first two week of April…..will be in San Francisco, Napa than to see family in L.A. for 5 days, (Silver Lake). One addition that I have added to my tee shirt collection are Wilt tops, short and long sleeved. Looking forward to your response and thank you!

  4. Tencel or any other fabric, Eileen Fisher is effortless, easy to style and my go-to for everyday, night and travel. Although we are on opposites sides of the U.S. (snowy, Northeast for me) It’s always fun to see you wearing her clothes, as we are around the same height. Wouldn’t it be fun to do an East Coast-West Coast version of the same pieces?

  5. My week is all about Getting Things Done, that’s how it’s shaping up! Not so bad;). I like ankle pants – I think showing our ankles in 2015 is like all those bellies shown earlier this century.

  6. I’m still struggling with styling ankle pants so I don’t feel ridiculous, although I admire the look on others. I got Alyson’s book on Monday and read it in an afternoon – nothing especially new, style-wise but full of the same zest and attitude that makes her blog so enjoyable.

  7. I look forward to reading Allyson’s book as her blog is great.

I like ankle pants and have a couple of pairs. They are very versatile. Not keen on the Eileen Fisher tencel’s shown above as they have a band around the ankle which I do not think is flattering. I prefer a cigarette or skinny cut.

  8. Susan – thank you so much for the mention & the PR should be sending you a review copy! I am so sorry you’ve had to wait. Do hope we can meet up again soon. Very best, Alyson
