from LA to Paris: 3 summer refreshers

Eileen Fisher linen gauze tunic
Eileen Fisher

It’s time again for another Trans-Atlantic Exchange with Tish Jett of A Femme! This time we gave ourselves an “assignment” of choosing three pieces from summer sales to round out and refresh out summer wardrobes. I’ll be taking the LA view, and Tish will post from the Paris perspective, where “les soldes” are now in full swing.

I’ve assumed you have your summer wardrobe basics handled, and here I’ve focused on adding some color and texture.

First up, there are few pieces as versatile as a tunic. This one (above) you can toss on over a cotton camisole and jeans for daytime or wear with your linen pants and some jewelry and be patio-cocktail-party-ready. 😉 It’s long enough to work as a swimsuit cover up, too. The lightweight crinkly linen is cool and breathable, and keeps the sun off the shoulders. Great for warm weather travel…can be hand washed and will dry quickly. I love this pale aqua color with white jeans, but it would also pair with nicely with navy or even black pieces. Plus-size version here.

Stretch cotton ankle pants
NYDJ

Some lightweight ankle pants like these from NYDJ in either a light neutral or soft color will take you from the office to weekends in comfort and style, and could also be a workhorse in a summer travel wardrobe. (I’m picturing with a metallic linen tee for evenings….)

perforated suede espadrilles
French Connection

Finally, I’ve had espadrilles on the brain lately, though not many seem to be on sale yet. I like this pair from French Connection in perforated suede. Not too precious, and that soft orange is actually quite a versatile color.

I can hardly wait to see what Tish has selected…go here to see.

Have you picked up any summer pieces on sale lately?

  1. First High Heels in the Wilderness, now you, only possible way I was ever going to want pink pants:).

  2. Love the pink pants, I am in Paris taking advantage of “les soldes”. It’s always nice to pick up something that has a different point of view than you would get at your local mall.

  3. You are so daring! I’m sure those pants are perfect on you. Your choices are great, as always. Very cute sandals. xo

  4. Love the style of the tunic. My problem is that they are usually sold in pale and pastel colours which look terrible on me. I wear black even in hot humid Sydney.

  5. Love your blog. As a serious overpacker and someone who always ends up hating holiday pics due to the fact I end up taking clothes that really do nothing for me I’m really enjoying your blog.
