Just For Fun: Outfit Ideas

Casual and Holiday looks from une femme and Nordstrom. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

When you shop online at Nordstrom, you may have noticed that at the bottom of a product page are one or more “Looks,” or styling ideas. A few days ago Nordstrom asked if I’d like to create some Looks. It sounded like a fun assignment, so I agreed, and you can see the Looks I created HERE.

It’s a blast to play stylist with a fantasy closet!

(Disclosure: this is not a sponsored post, however I received compensation from Nordstrom for creating the Looks.)

  1. How fun!! I have one question, I am going to be traveling from PA to Southern CA and love your travel look and have virtually every item you chose in some variation….. Any suggestions for shoes? I have a really cute version of the animal print slip on sneaker you showed a few days ago and I have an all black style as well….. Your expert opinion please

    1. Hi Leslie, it depends a little bit on where in So Cal you’ll be, and what activities you have planned. The past couple of weeks I’ve been rotating between my animal print sneakers and a pair of ankle boots. If you’ll be further inland (e.g. Palm Springs or other desert areas) it can be quite cold this time of year so you’ll want something warm.

      1. Thanks Susan. Our son just moved to Menifee so they are very centrally located to all things “fun”. We have been to So Cal a few times prior to his move, so we will probably re visit a few destinations. As you suggested I will probably take a few options and layering pieces. I love your blog and and your style. I also would like to take the time to tell you that I loved your post the other day about body acceptance. Yay for you and yay for all women who feel this way. thank you for being brave and speaking out for those of us who feel the same way ❤️

  2. I have a Fashion Notebook. Would have loved to print out your Fantasy Closet pictures to add to my collection of outfit ideas. 🙁

  3. I always enjoy these and love the looks you’ve created for Nordstrom!
Just catching up and I agree that your neutral look of four days ago does absolutely make you glow. Can you share your foundation and shade, also lipstick? Thanks and enjoy the holidays!

  4. Hi Susan, What fun, this is really great! I always enjoy browsing the “looks” on the product pages when I’m ordering online at Nordstrom. I get disappointed when there isn’t one! I look forward to taking a look at all of yours. 🙂

  5. So….given the love of leopard, which I share, I snagged the Ellen Tracy faux fur leopard print plushy jacket. It was on sale half off. It is a delight although bigger than the size chart. I’d love to see a few outfits around it in the Spring palette. I remember sewing a lined leopard 3/4 tie waist coat back in the early 1970s before children took all the time and I have always wanted another leopard print jacket. And here it is!
    Happy holidays!
