Color Inspiration from The Sartorialist

Swoon. Other than the tights and the little pouch, I would SO wear this or a version of it. I love this mix of colors!

The Sartorialist. (I get the feeling from his recent shots that Milano is having a mild winter.)

  1. I just loved this outfit, so much that I saved it onto my laptop! I don’t think I’d wear the striped tights myself, but on her they look charming. The coat is great and was the first thing that captured my attention.

  2. I love this as well — masterful use of colour, which owes much to the strength and simplicity of the coat’s cut/colour. Brilliant the way the quirky works against the classic/tailored — I love it!

  3. I agree with all above. That coat is a real classic that could be worn in so many different ways. This woman has made her own statement with it and yes, I love the unusual colour palette too. But it would work equally well with plain brown trousers and sweater and beautiful jewellery. The coat has a real 60s Givenchy feel to it – couldn’t you see Audrey Hepburn in it?

No, Milan is freezing at the moment as is most of Europe – we’re having quite a harsh winter this time. So either The Sartorialist caught this lady between house and car or he took the photo a while ago!

  4. I love her attitude- check the green fingerless gloves! And how her hair is so ‘undone’, then the perfectly made-up lips. I see coats like this in my Canadian city, sublime but always on sale racks b/c what one can wear in Italy in the winter is good for Sept-Oct here.

  5. I love this outfit too! A lot of people don’t seem to go for the tights, but I think it’s a tastefully eccentric touch.
