Eileen Fisher a-line rain jacket
hooded rain jacket

Though summer is here and we may mostly be looking at ways to dress for the heat, if you’re planning any late summer or early fall travel, this A-line hooded rain jacket from Eileen Fisher may be just the thing. Available in Midnight and Pewter. Also in Petites. I love the swing styling in the back! It’s on pre-order now, but never hurts to plan ahead…

  1. Coincidentally, I’ve been hunting for a travel raincoat, mid-thigh (and that’s a challenge as I’m 5’8″), navy, very packable and good looking enough to wear in the city. I found several options online but preferred to try on in person. This one fits the bill
http://www.mec.ca/product/5034-013/mec-bon-vivant-jacket-womens/?f=10+50021+50093. The colour is gorgeous, rich and deep, good pockets, good looks and ….long enough. This will be my jacket for visiting England in September. Now I need to decide on a new bag and plug a few other holes in my travel list.

    1. That is interesting as it isn’t very expensive, has attractive practical colours and is longer – essential for me on a bicycle – however a neighbour was very disappointed in a similar, warmer garment which simply didn’t last well. MEC used to have consistently high quality, but now not everything is as durable and well-made.

I will look at it though; here (in Montréal) I can probably see it in store. Note that there is a wide range of sizes.

  2. I just bought a beautiful Michel Kors trench at Nordstrom Rack…I am so excited now for cooler weather in the fall. Sometimes you have to grab what you love and just wait to use it! July sales are perfect for out of season savings!

  3. I just bought this from my local Lord and Taylor’s! Was heading off to NYC with my kids and realized that the only person without a light raincoat was me. Love EF outerwear.

  4. Update: not really a rain jacket. Fine for drizzle, fog, cold airplanes, but doesn’t protect against heavy rain.
