Home again…
…and normal programming will resume tomorrow. Even though coming home means facing mountains of laundry and an almost empty fridge, I’m divinely happy to be here.
The place we stayed in Nuevo Vallarta is also home to some performing parrots…
Just to show how close one can get to the tigers, the pics below were taken on my iphone without any zoom. We’re talking probably 2-3 feet.
Here, kitty kitty!!! |
What does a tiger smell like, you ask? I’m not sure about in the wild, but these smelled like big dirty dogs. I don’t know whether they’re kept in the cages (which are probably each about 20×30 feet) all of the time or have other habitats. Yes, I know that these probably are not optimal conditions. But I have to admit it’s thrilling to get this close to one of my favorite “wild” animals.

There were parrots at the hotel in Kauai this summer. Not performing parrots, but they seemed happy to pose.
Hopefully, the tigers are being taken care of. The smell of big cat areas always reminds me of a litter box. I just assumed that’s to be expected.
Oh nothing beats snuggling into your own bed after being away, hope the laundry doesn’t take too long!
About the tiger smell – when I worked for the circus (yes, I did!) I learned to beware of the tigers. They can lift their tail up and pee straight out, the trajectory is extremely powerful! Once your clothes have been peed on by a tiger, you can never get the smell out!
The parrots are so colorful! Lovely, but a little scarey, too!
Welcome back home.
What a wonderful adventure. You do realize you’ve written about tigers and flying in hot air balloons recently:).
Dying over the hammy parrot!
Mexico is my favorite place! I hope you’re having a wonderful time.
Kitty kitty indeed!
I love the parrots.
These birds are absolutely beautiful. Now I’m wondering if tigers purr and what that might sound like.
