Working It Out

This will probably be my last Working It Out post for a while, as I’m mostly recycling the same items, and will continue to do so until the weather starts to warm up a bit.

Skirt and sweater: Eileen Fisher.  Skirt here. Sweater here. This longer cardigan has a bit of very gentle peplum in the back, which gives it movement and shape. It’s incredibly flattering and one of my very favorite pieces. I hope they continue to make it, and add more colors!
Striped shirt: Talbots.
Earrings: Talbots (I think, have had them for a while)
Scarf: Eric Bompard cashmere voile.
Bracelets: Stella and Dot here, Hermès here.
Tights: Spanx Tight End tights.
Boots: Arche, purchased in Paris in 2009.  These boots were not cheap, but have been a great cost-per-wear value, as I not only wear with skirts, but also with my ponte knit slim pants and underneath straight or bootleg jeans. They are incredibly comfortable and I can walk all day in them.

Here’s a closeup of the scarf.  It’s they DIY Infinity tie that you can see in this video (don’t know what happened to the music, somehow it was changed after uploading to youtube). Instead of keeping the knot in back, I decided to bring around to the side.

Bon weekend!

  1. Those BP voie scarves are so useful and I love that shade of pink. And Arche, am such a fan. Readers who quail at the price, check eBay, which often have new pairs at 30-50% of retail.

  2. The ensemble is great with one small detail…you are so much slimmer now that your skirt looks as though it could be taken in, your silhouette has undergone some real changes in the past few months…congratulations! It looks great on you. Those boots really are great, they completely contradict my usual phobia of flat heeled boots and give a long lean look to the leg even with the bit of rumple in the leather. Really great proportions…

  3. Pseu, your skin looks glorious, and I love that cashmere voile. So light and floaty and drapey. Mmm ….

  4. Lovely self pic Pseu. The scarf is gorgeous. I am hoping to find my way to the Bompard store while in Paris. I am also a fan of Arche. Bon weekend to you!

  5. Hello:
We are delighted to have found your incredibly stylish blog which we have much enjoyed reading. We shall look forward to returning [and are now Followers].

  6. I really like the shade of pink of your scarf and agree that the cardigan is very flattering. I ordered one :-).

  7. You get a lot of mileage out of that outfit!! Great! I just lived in Buenos Aires for 3 months and saw some ugly travel outfits–many American woman look so plain and practical and wear some awful sandals. You can be comfortable and still look lovely. There are some wonderful looking sandals and cushioned shoes.

First, a nice pedicure, self tanner to the legs and perhaps just a lovely flowing scarf to dress up those khakis!! Just takes a minute to put on some tinted lip gloss, fluff the hair and perhaps add earrings. And don’t wear your passport and money around your neck as there are so many lovely leather purses designed for travel.

I guess some people are just travelling and think that is different from living. I don’t.

  8. LuxeBytes – thanks so much! I love these scarves, they are gossamer light and available in so many pretty colors.

    Susan – thank you!

Duchesse – I love these scarves, first discovered on our second Paris trip. Some Arche shoes have too little arch support for me (ironic, isn’t it?) but these boots are amazing. And for those considering, many Arche nubuck shoes can actually be washed! In the sink!

Rita – I’ll try that next time, thanks!

Marguerite – there are actually several Bompard stores in Paris, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding one. They are wonderful!

Jane W – thank you so much! When I first saw this color I thought it might be too vivid for me, but it really is a flattering tone.

  9. Jane and Lance – thank you so very much! I’m glad you enjoy.

    Kady – that’s a marvelous video! I don’t think I can top that! 😉

Katriona – thanks, and you’re right, I realized later in the day that I was wearing a larger version of this skirt from last year (without the fold-over top). This year’s version in a smaller size does fit better now.

The Style Crone – thank you so much! I’m a recent convert to the color pink, but it really does do wonders for the skin tone.

  10. Susan Tiner – thank you, and please let me know what you think of the cardigan. I really love mine!

materfamilias – oh yeah, SO ready!!!!

Julianne – thank you, and I’ll do more once the weather allows me to rotate in some new items.

donnieB – I’m working on some more travel posts, and agree that it’s altogether to easy to drift into frumpiness when traveling. Comfort and style CAN co-extist!

Tiffany – thanks! As I noted above, this color does amazing things for skin tones.
