Casual Vendredi

Casual Vendredi - L'automne

We’ve been having such lovely autumn weather in LA the past couple of weeks. A bit of rain, a bit of sun, pleasant temperatures. The slim-pants-tucked-into-knee-boots look has become ubiquitous here. I’m noticing a subtle shift in the style zeitgeist; people in general seem to be making more of an effort to look pulled together, and I applaud that.

I have posts stacked up in my head like 767’s over JFK, but precious little time or mental energy to do the kind of writing they require. Between working on a new product launch of sorts and being involved in some software redesign (as an end user) my weekdays are wall-to-wall meetings which just zaps me mentally. And yes, I am extremely grateful to be employed, to be in a position to gripe about how busy I am at work. I do not take this for granted. But between that and our weekends of condo-clearing (a few more still ahead) it means that right now blogging is taking a back seat, and am a bit frustrated by that.

Bon weekend!

  1. You’ve just summed up exactly how I feel. I have a huge workload at the moment too, feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all & finding it difficult to sustain the blog. Hope the product launch and condo-clearing go smoothly – see you at the other side!

  2. The Frye boots are so yummy. I too have many ideas swirling in my head that I want to write about, but lack sufficient free time to make good sense of them. But again like you, I am grateful to have a job and a busy life. Bon Jour!

  3. Great outfit, as usual…you are so very stylish. I love those boots.

I feel the same way about blogging and I’m not half as busy and stressed as you are with my part-time volunteer job. My head is full of posts – but my time is more limited these days and I am lazy when it comes to picture taking.

I hope you get some free time to blog soon. I would love to know what circling around in that brilliant mind of yours!

  4. LOve the boots and bag…
I have had Frye boots on the brain.

Hope that the condo cleaning has triggered some happy memories. It did for my husband and I as we sorted out his parent’s house, they had been together for over 60 years and lived through the Depression so they were savers.
We kept a few trinkets, but we are now so aware of the impact that hoarding has we are constantly paring down refusing to put our kids in this position.

Blogging has to take a back seat to real life.
We’ll still be here so don’t worry.

  5. Luckily the link to the Chanel bag doesn’t work, because I was thinking of purchasing it, while my husband was still snoozing! Gorgeous outfit you put together there. Hope your condo cleaning comes to an end soon – not fun after a long week of work.

  6. I too like the Chanel bag and the boots.
Brown is such a refreshing color, all of a sudden, on these items.
Oh dear, the clearing up. I hope everyone, who has done it, remembers it, and gets rid of their own stuff while they still are able to do it.
It is the worst kind of memory, we could leave for our own kids.

  7. oh yes, the posts stacked up in the head … sound so familiar!
It is a dilemma! But I noticed it does not seem to be the frequency that attracts me to certain blogs. You probably could post half as many postings at still please all the bloggers who follow you!

But it’s not about pleasing others, is it? It’s about creativity and the happiness each new postings we creat provides.

Happy to read you enjoy your employment!

  8. No worries Pseu, real life is more important than online life and sometimes taking a break is a good thing.

I love the Cheetah-lined trench in your polyvore.

    Have a great weekend!

  9. I am so glad that you have a great job that keeps you busy. But selfishly I look forward to reading your blog everyday and miss it when you don’t post. But I truly understand. Thanks for the birthday wish also 🙂

  10. Tried commenting from my Smartphone, but got lost in verification land. I’m in the same balancing game as you, grateful for meaningful employment, challenges and all, but wish those busy times didn’t demand surrendering all the activities that keep me sane.
And so grateful that you find time, even during the craziness, to treat us to your brilliant Polyvores. Always fun!

Ain’t that the truth? What a fun way to put this feeling!
