Goldilocks Finds Her Marinière…
Not inexpensive, but this St. James Galathée Tee from J.Crew is Just Right.
Lightweight cotton, 3/4 sleeves, nice fit, several color options.

Looks good to me – I’m wearing an old navy/white stripe Gap t-shirt today but eventually I’m going to have to trade it in for a proper mariniere!
I give you permission to buy one in every color :).
Ah, I approve. La Mariniere is a classic in the French woman’s wardrobe– and in any color, of course. I thought you might be interested in this story I wrote about this wonderful shirt a few months ago. 🙂

Perfect!
Goldilocks is thankful.
Must check it out! (I write that as I sit here in my L.L. Bean “French Sailor’s Shirt, Long-Sleeve Quarter-Zip Pullover” in Cream/Navy — it’s cold for June here in the Northeast!)
Is it? I do love shirts comme ca, but you’re right that they must fit “just right.”
perfection, and I love a slim fit for this boyish-style shirt.
Hello:
Completely classic and very attractive.
Agreed, just right! I have the pink and white. More colors on the St. James website. Feast your eyes 🙂
At this certain age, I am very picky on patterns.
I could wear a striped T when by seaside, or in some sport activity.
Stripes have a strong connection with the sea – and jail guys for me ; )
Mette,
You’re right – they are French sailor’s shirts originally.
Makes me think of a sunset ride on a sail boat….with wonderful company, wine and cheese…see what one great blouse can do!
Thanks – have been meaning to order two for ages, and forgot. These are perfect.
I order the St James shirts directly from France for Le Duc (http://brittany-boutique.com/) and I believe they are considerably less. I have two of the LL Bean ones, but rarely wear them as he is always in his, and we look really silly in his and her stripes. Here in Montreal we rock these all the time, and my favourite so far was a cropped on (ending just under the bust) on a willowy young woman.
