June Bloom….

For the most part, I’ve never felt right in floral prints. The exceptions are Asian or kimono style prints, which have always exerted an above average gravitational pull on me. Back in my twenties I used to comb the local thrift shops in the smallish town where I lived for old kimonos (which I wore as jackets) but rarely found them. I’d recently seen quite a few kimono style jackets at Zara but didn’t like how they looked on me: too much volume that overwhelmed my frame. Until I tried this shorter jacket.

I’m just gaga over this print, and this soft jacket dresses up or down with ease. This isn’t a “forever” piece, but it’s nice to have a Fun Jacket™ to jazz up wardrobe basics.

Do go check out all of the June blooms at “How I Wear My: Florals” hosted by Adrienne at The Rich Life On A Budget and Jill at Everything Just So.

  1. I also love Asian-type prints, both floral and geometric. I have one shortish blue one with abstract leaves and ferns (and frogs!) that I still wear after about 15 years. I get compliments every time I wear it, but I wear it sparingly. You look great: I liked your strawberry-red hair, but I adore your blond look.

  2. I can see that the asian print design is a much more updated look than your standard country floral. This jacket is really pretty. I’m glad you found just the right jacket so you could start wearing and enjoying it. Cute red shoes. I’ve never had read shoes. Maybe I should look for a pair. Thank you for the idea.

  3. I’ve always been leery of florals on me. It feels like I’m wearing a tablecloth for some reason. This looks fab on you. The Asian print is sort of sophisticated and looks great styled with your jeans! I must say again, I love your hair blond. It is very flattering and takes years off your appearance.

  4. Love the jacket and shoes! I came to Chicago with a shopping list of items I wanted…one is a great print, fitted jacket. I haven’t found it yet. This one looks so good with your shoes!

  5. Cute jacket. With the weather heating up it’s nice to have something patterned so as to skip the extra layer of a scarf to add interest.

  6. The jacket looks great on you! The blue tone compliments your blonde hair beautifully. I agree it is a keeper.

  7. Your jacket is fun and summery. The shorter length and your red shoes make it a stylish and pretty look for you.

  8. Gorgeous print and colors on your fun new jacket. I’m on a three month shopping moratorium, so may miss the fun of this summer’s print party. I’ve been reading and following the book “Wheat Belly” and am happy to report it’s working for me, hence the buying ban. Just wondering, what was your favorite London shop?

  10. That jacket is gorgeous! Did they have other things in that print? It would make a beautiful suit with a pencil skirt. I love the jacket with jeans, though, and the red shoes are just perfect!

  11. I like your jacket, but I have never tried on a floral anything and bought it. Too much going on next to my face. But I think I can carry off printed scarves successfully. Any idea why?

  12. Love this jacket – a friend & I tried it in just last week in Padua – works on all shapes, sizes & coloring – Anne

  14. I’m with you on the florals. You and I are petite so we have to be careful not to let the “flowers” overwhelm us. I love the jacket’s pattern and that’s the perfect shade of blue for you!

  15. you look fab! love the entire outfit. The jacket is just beautiful!!!!! Not to mention your hair! I went through my kimono asian period by shopping Citron, until it became too expensive for me.. but I know excatly what you mean. I wore florals when I was in high school Big full skirts!! I loved them and I still do, same as caprils…but not as tops.. or jackets.. except for the kimonos… go figure!!

  16. Beautiful blazer, I love the floral print and colour and it looks great with jeans.
I recently I saw the matching skirt at ZARA. Why did I not buy it??

  17. Saw those Zara kimonos too and had such a tug toward them (and I’m tall). But thought it just would not be worn except maybe once to a brunch or something. This scale is perfect on you and the floral does not read as ditsy or girlish- As Well Syled Life put it so well, a sophisticated print.

  18. Bon jour Madame- The print is gorgeous, and your blonde hair very youthful, I may have said it before! You look stunning in this outfit!

  19. I’m with you on Asian prints … or any allusion to or iteration of them! Drawn to them. And this is so good on you. Can you see it with white straight leg jeans … the lady-like, trouser kind? And a delicate sandal for summer evenings? Pretty.

  20. I love your jacket and your shoes. Stamping on jacket and the color of the shoes are beautiful. A cute look. You look great with this outfit.

  21. I love this jacket on you so much, especially that you paired it with jeans. Woo-hoo, a gal after my own heart! The print is really amazing. Thanks for joining Adrienne and me for “How I Wear My: Florals” and thank you so much for the mention! XO, Jill
