Catherine of Not Dressed As Lamb has launched the most amazing project, Accentuate The Positive Project. You can read more about it here, and contribute yourself on the Accentuate The Positive Project Facebook Page. I think it’s so important, especially for our daughters, granddaughters, nieces, and all young women that we stop the negative body talk and focus on what we love about our bodies. We can all lead by example!

Though not for religious reasons, I’ve always been more comfortable with a more covered-up style of dressing. Patti at Not Dead Yet Style shares her own thoughts about modest dressing, and writes about a newly launched clothing company whose designs prove that modest doesn’t have to be frumpy.

  1. Your outfit is beautiful. The scarf is a wow. So fortunate that you have this lovely piece and the memories that go with it. I can’t wait for the fall Eileen FIsher to hit the stores!

    1. Kathy, thank you. I agree that health is the most important thing, and I think it’s also good to try to counter some of the body disparagement that bombards us all on a daily basis.

  2. I have been fortunate to inherit some vintage scarves from my mother and grandmother. It’s really great that scarves are once again so a la mode! I try and snag a Liberty of London brand whenever we are there. Love them.

  3. I love that vintage scarf on you. It is suddenly very cool in NYC, and we have all earned it after that horrible week-long heat wave. Makes me want to break out the Hermes! XO, Jill

  4. That scarf is so beautiful. Unfortunately Maman and Grandmaman didn’t like to get “gussied up” so I have no inherited scarves. I have been influenced by you and visited the only Eileen Fisher store in Canada. There were many tempting pieces but I came out with a silver grey sweater similar to yours, the grey basic pants and a cobalt blue linen tee. You might have the same. Everything fit well and I was able to get the pants in petite. I may have to visit again. As for modesty, perhaps like in so many other things, too much of a good thing is too much!

  5. The scarf is beautiful and in my mind’s eye I am pairing it with the EF sweater you featured recently. I have the same problem with using items. What is the use of having something nice if you do not use it? Like my crystal, several sets of china, the good silver. It will remain pristine for a future daughter in law that does not care to own anything that does not go into the dishwasher… Of course, I hardly use it for the same reasons.

  6. I really like this, but I think you’d look fresher if the pants were cropped. Too many of us seem to fear our ankles.

  7. How wonderful for you to have inherited such a lovely piece! My Grand-Mere, who was actually my great grandmother, was born in Alsace and could crochet you a sweater in about an hour. I don’t have anything but lovely memories of her, and that’s good enough for me.
Thanks for you continued support. It means a lot to me!

  8. Thanks for this post, scarves are fantastic and you look wonderful in your leopard scarf! It would be great to have a step-by-step tutorial that is not a video to show all the myriad ways they can be tied.there are at least a dozen ways to tie a scarf that I’ve seen, but that all the blogs that show how to go by too fast!
