Summer In San Francisco

Eileen Fisher jacket, skinny jeans, metallic top, Fluevog Davis shoes, high heeled loafers
Didn’t realize until editing photos that camera was a bit tilted…

Well no, I’m not really there. But our weather has turned cool-ish again, at least in the mornings when we have a bit of San Fransciso-esque overcast. No complaints here! Those of you who are sweltering and hate me now will have your turn to gloat when it’s October and you’re wearing your lovely fall sweaters, while we Los Angelenos are roasting in 100+F temperatures and wheezing from the smoke of brush fires.

Ok, so let’s talk about the shoes…

John Fluevog shoes, Fluevog Big Presence Davis, high heeled loafers

These are Fluevog “Big Presence Davis” and the red color is on sale right now. Aren’t they utterly bodacious? Fluevog does some of the best sculptural heels out there, and these (surprisingly) are actually under 3″ and amazingly comfortable.

More San Francisco lore:

  • Did you know that Mark Twain never said “The coldest winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco”? Too bad, it’s a great quote.
  • Never, ever call it “Frisco” in front of someone who grew up there or nearby. You’ll get your head bitten off in short order.
  • It you want to sound like an insider, just refer to it as “The City.”
  • The best weather is in October.

  1. The shoes are fun! I have also been considering a Michael Kors Watch similar to this…I am so jealous of your weather. We will be sweltering up until October…always are…but around the first of that month is when it often changes…I can always hope for earlier. It will be over 100 today!

  2. You are rapidly e moving my favourite blog-read with my morning cup o’ joe!

John Fluevog – former hippie sandal-maker from my hometown (Vancouver) makes great shoes!

Your weather sounds lovely – our lovely west cost is serving up blue sunny skies and perfect temperatures – sorry for those sweltering elsewhere.

Thanks again for your blog –

  3. Love your punch of red and don’t you think shoes that are that fabulous deserve to be a focal point?
It is still very hot here and our noisy road work continues….
But not as dreadful as your wildfires. Hope they contain them soon.

    1. Femme, those shoes are a statement! Wow. I’m not sure I could spend the day in a 3 inch heel, though, sigh. I bought a pair of orange loafers recently and am enjoying the color splash. Now I want more colored shoes!

  4. Every time I see the blonde hair I am loving in more! It suits you so very very well. I hope you are loving it too and that it will stay. 🙂

Enjoy the weather reprieve. As a SoCal native, I remember savouring the rare break in the summer heat… We are experiencing one here in Ottawa, Canada as well and I am loving every cool moment.

Your blog has become one of my daily time-out treats, and for that I thank you!

  5. Those shoes!!!! I read once that only prostitutes and little girls should wear red shoes (no mention is made of the Pope you might note).. To which I say: Pffft! I just ordered these; you are a bad influence! (Thanks!)

  6. Love to see you discovering the wonder that is Fluevogs! You know I have a collection of over 20 pairs of them, right? Most of their shoes are wondrously comfortable.

  7. Bodacious! That is just the right word for those shoes! They’ve got the Fluevog look without being over the top, and what a great color. I also love your jacket.

  8. Those shoes are made for walking, going straight to the website, would love to have a pair, taking inspiration from you. The cut, the styling, the height, everything is just perfect! Nice ensemble, loving your jeans style!

  9. Those shoes will be amazing with a lot of things, but they are just freaking perfect with your close fitted jeans! Adorbs. Truly.
It’s not just the weather in SF that I envy … it’s that you live in actual civilization! Enjoy no matter the weather … but I hope the fires never, ever start again!

  10. You have a wonderful ease about you in this outfit, and oh, John Fluevog – such a sumptuous colour and dreamy details!
