Bienvenue, Scarf Season!
Ahh, the weather is cool again, especially in the mornings, and I’ve been getting reacquainted with my favorite scarves. Like this one from l’affaire cashmere, “Animal Spirit,” a wonderfully lightweight and soft leopard print scarf.
L’affaire cashmere has loads of lovely new scarves and stoles in stock. They source their cashmere from high altitude regions of India, Nepal and Tibet, and most are woven on handlooms. I’ve been so impressed with the lovely hand and wonderful quality of these scarves. They ship free worldwide too!
For those of you who would like to wear scarves more often but either are annoyed by a lot of bulk around the neck or feel intimidated by trying to tie scarves, below is a wonderfully easy arrangement that keeps your neck and chest warm, and stays put…no fiddling or fussing necessary.
1. Fold the scarf in half lengthwise, 2. drape around the neck with the loop on one side and the ends on the other, 3. pass one of the ends through the loop, 4. twist the loop a half turn, 5. pass the other end through the loop. Et voilà! This works beautifully under a jacket or coat too.

I hardly ever wear scarves thought he maxi twilly might tempt me, I usually reserve them for deepest darkest snow days.

This morning, before I left the house wearing my trenchcoat (walking to work since my car is at the garage for inspection!) I felt a bit naked around my neck and automatically grabbed my favourite leo scarf 🙂

Scarfs are a must in the upcoming months because it’s starting to cold, really cold soon. Yours is fun and this interesting way to tie it!

I love scarves! Hermes silk squares are like candy to me.
If I am wearing my longer scarves I will opt for those that keep me warmer.
On really cold days I wear a cashmere pink plaid Burberry and other days I will wear my grey Tilo scarf
I use a similar technique to tie my long scarves….nice boots Susan!
With the exception of July and August I wear a scarf to work about three times a week. Usually not with button downs, as I find this too much going on. For warmer weather silk of course, along with woven linens. Last spring I splurged on a cashmere Pucci in grey, black, taupe and spots of soft yellow. It is the best thing I have ever worn around my neck.
You have definitely helped influence me into scarf wearing – and that way to wear them is, as you say, so simple and useful.
Having finally trained myself to appreciate scarves, I also much appreciate your suggestions for wearing. I will try this one today – the weather is cooperating. And it’s quite nice to encounter you both here and at Already Pretty this morning!

I am considering those Etoile Murant decker boots. Do you have any reccomendations on their sizing as I am between sizes. Do you really like them and find them comfortable? They are a bit of an investment.

Bonjour Juliewentz, you might want to check l’affaire cashmere’s full selection of scarves. I think there are some other leopard print options available that may appeal to you. Regarding the “Dicker” boots, my sense is that they run perhaps a bit small. I’m usually either a 37 or 38 in euro sizes, and the 37 was definitely too short. The 38 fits with enough room for lightweight socks. They are very comfortable!

I love scarves and shawls. Right now I’m exploring different materials and/or shapes like jersey snoods or triangular lace scarves. It’s something a bit more refreshing than the ubiquitous rayon/polyester printed “pashminas” that everone is wearing.

Thanks for the simple scarf wearing tutorial! Fall is definitely a good time to bust out colorful scarves that are still made out nice thin materials versus the heavy wool scarves for winter. They can add so much to an outfit.
