Fathers’ Day: Le Monsieur Recommends…

Fathers' Day gift ideas

This year for Fathers’ Day gift ideas, I thought I’d go straight to the source. These are le Monsieur’s recommendations for the Dads on your list.

1. Elemis Skin Soothe Shave Gel. Le Monsieur is not one to get excited about grooming products, but after receiving a sample size of this in his flight amenities kit on our last trip, swears it’s the best shave gel he’s ever used. There’s some menthol in it, and he says it really reduces the irritation factor from shaving.

2. Ear buds. Good ones. Nice to have for travel or just to listen to music or podcasts while kicking back in the hammock.

3. Linen shirts. When we visited Aix-en-Provence in 2012, le Monsieur picked up a couple of 100% linen shirts at the Monoprix there. They are still his favorite shirts for warm days, wrinkles notwithstanding. (Lands’ End also has some nice options.)

  1. Thanks for reminding me. My dad (84) has his birthday along with Father’s Day, so if I forget both, he gets pissed. I usually get him sports stuff but he has everything so your ideas help.

    1. Is he still athletic? If so, hearty congratulations. The dad of a friend played seniors’ tennis (and won awards) almost until he died. Of course you must not forget those dates, as a young’un.

  2. Yes to Elemis. I hoarded a shower gel sample from a work trip for as long as I could — it had a lovely, zingy peppermint note. Thanks for the reminder, though my husband doesn’t shave (I’ve never seen him clean-shaven) and my dad uses an electric razor. But it would be great for my sons.

My husband loves linen shirts. just got him another one that looks like chambray, and he loves it.
