Objects Of Desire: The Pointy Loafer
I’ll confess, I’ve been drooling over these sharp-nosed beauties for weeks months now. The mauve-ish version especially is emitting an unrelenting siren’s call. I’ve fondled examined them in person and that leather is butter soft too. Yes, they are pricey little devils, so I’ve been on a hunt to see if there’s anything that will scratch the itch for moins d’argent.
Here are some of the contenders:

I adore the Calvin Kleins. Pointy toes are grabbing my attention now too.
I’m weighing in in favor of the leopard print flats. I know they might not seem as versatile as a plain color, but…come on. Leopard is so cool. And unexpected. The older I get, the more willing I am to take chances, at least where fashion is concerned. I say, “Go for it!”
Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
OUI OUI OUI!
The orange Kirkwoods are divine. I will see them in my deams.
Flats rarely work for me, but these (the mauve!) are just beautiful. I think you should just get them.
They are lovely! Shoes must be comfy though so I am sure that trying them on is key…if they pass that test you know they were meant to be.
Has anyone here had a pair of Kirkwood’s? Are they good? TTS?
I love every one of these but wearing flats gave me plantar faciitis, and now they are my enemy. Boo.
I never scrimp on shoes. My feet are my best friends and I treat them well – they’ve held up for 57 years with no issues and I’d like to keep it that way. My rule is go for the highest quality pair the budget will allow. Because of this I have fewer shoes than I otherwise might but I get so much pleasure from wearing every pair: guaranteed comfort + beauty = total satisfaction. BTW, I have the same rule for handbags.
I am the same–not many issues with my feet. I buy the best quality I can afford and keep my shoe wardrobe small, but hopefully versatile.
For me the secret of pointy-toe-comfort is the point has to be long
so it doesn’t squeeze toes in.
Gayle, exactly! Toes shouldn’t be jammed up into the point.
I love these shoe options and your sense of style! I strive for an elegant classic casual look often, but my feet complain if my shoes aren’t perfect. Plantar fasciitis has not been my friend.
I have started a blog recently as well and love seeing other blogs for women closer to my age – well done! I have nominated you for a Liebster Award. Check it out on my blog “What is Fifty” at http://whatisfifty.blogspot.com/2014/08/fifty-isthe-liebster-award.html
Have fun!
Oui! Oui! Oui! Oui! et Oui! My (French) nanna had a rule with clothes and all those Gorgeous Things for Grown Ups. If you see it, and love it, don’t buy it. But if it makes you drool at first sight, then scrimp, save, .. do whatever you can to buy it. These shoes are completely fabulous! I look forward to seeing your wearing them in future post.
The Kirkwoods are great shoes. I would buy them in black. They look comfortable. If you buy, let us know.
Not for someone with a larger size foot such as myself.
I know! I would look like the letter L wearing these with my size 10 feet!
I envy you! It would be fun to add one very pointed-toe shoe to my repertoire, like my mother’s Sixties’ era stilettos. But they hurt too much, even on my medium width feet.
There’s also a crazy fashion tip that stylist David Zyla has (at least, I think it’s him). The shoes that look the best on any individual, are ones whose toe box vaguely echoes the shape of the chin or bottom part of the face. I thought this was insane, but then realized that slightly squared off, almond toe shaped shoes always look the best and weirdly, feel “right” on me from an aesthetic standpoint. And I have kind of a square jaw that mimics that shape!!!
If he’s right, a pointed toe would look great with a pointed chin, a rounded toe with a round chin, and on and on. Fun to think about…
Love them all. None are available in a size 12, more’s the pity. In my next life I’m going for smaller feet. Oh, wait. Perhaps they wouldn’t work so well on a six footer!
