workwear blues…

Color block top 2

…but the good kind! I’ve usually styled Covered Perfectly tops more casually, but wanted to show how this color blocked top could work as part of a soft office look. (Even my business outfits must be comfortable!) I’ve styled here with a knit pleated skirt and long shaped cardigan. This slightly A-line micro-modal top is soft and breathable. I’m petite, so the length works as a tunic for me; tall women will get plenty of coverage too. It’s available with several different colors in the middle panel. This robin’s egg blue coordinates nicely with my current favorite scarf.

Check out the entire Covered Perfectly collection here. Shipping is free with purchase over $47, and they ship worldwide.

  1. Ah, I bought that skirt! You convinced me – I had been on the fence, but seeing it on you made it clear how attractive it really is! Thanks

    1. Janice, it’s turned out to be a much more versatile and easy-to-style piece than I thought originally. After a decade of pencil skirts, it’s nice to wear one that’s a little fuller again. And…pockets!!

  2. I love that soft blue on you. And the scarf is gorgeous. The whole outfit works really well. Hmmm…almost makes me wish I had to get dressed for work this morning…almost.

    1. Frances, thanks so much! I seem to re-discover skirts every winter, only to let them go once it’s too warm for tights.

  3. I always love an iced-out blue with black, it’s one of my favorite color pairings. I love it here with the scarf (and that bag, oh that bag). XO, Jill

  4. Although you are wearing black, I can see a touch of spring with your lovely scarf.
Can’t wait to wear “normal” shoes again rather than winter boots all the time…

  5. Love the blue top but especially the scarf. Start making yourself a little blue capsule. It’s refreshing don’t you think?

    1. Karen, thanks! I’ve started adding more blue to my wardrobe (dang, it’s easy to wear!) and will work on a capsule.

  6. Enjoy your blog and this outfit is great. Looking at the affiliate links, cannot tell which is the scarf. I have to have it!

  7. Your glasses are so flattering. I’m looking for new ones, and also live in L.A. Do you mind sharing the brand and model?

    1. Hi Jackie, thanks so much! I’ve been getting my eyewear from Century City Optometry for twenty years now. They have a great selection and carry many European brands, and always help me select a perfect fit. These are from Face à Face Paris. I’m not certain of the model # but will try to figure it out.

      1. Fantastic. Thank you. To confirm, it’s in the mall? If you can read a model # on the temple it would helpful. I would like new frames but dread making the choice.

        1. Hi Jackie, yes in the mall near the Apple store. The model number “SHADE 3”. Go see them; they are really helpful and have some very nice frames you won’t find at the chains.
