a spring thing

white denim jeans, denim jacket

Though the calendar says March 20 is the first day of Spring, my marker is the start of Daylight Savings time. I know a lot of people hate it, but I love having some daylight left when I get home from work.

I’d imagined styling this jacket with my white denim even before I ordered it. I decided to go with a white “column of color” here but couldn’t resist adding the blue sandals.

French Kande bracelet, Clare V leopard clutch

I’ve had this clutch for a couple of years now and love how it looks, but for every day use prefer a shoulder bag. I’m still on the lookout for something in a leopard print that can be worn either cross-body or over one shoulder.

Dansko Debby sandals

These Dansko sandals stand firmly in the intersection of Cute and Comfortable. They’ve passed the hours-on-my-feet-running-errands test, and the bright blue pops nicely against dark denim too. I love that they add a little bit of height without the steep pitch of a high heel. Though Southern California isn’t tropical, we’ve had some odd warm spells lately, and normally it’s intermittently mild enough to wear sandals even during February and March (and I know a few people who wear them year-round, though I’m not that hardy).

How do you incorporate a bit of Spring into your outfits?

  1. That is a perfect outfit, Sue. I love the white denim jeans with the jacket. The drape and length of that tee shirt are….perfect with the jacket. And then those blue chunky sandals. Sigh. Wish I could magic up that outfit to appear in my house right now. And then I might be able to wear it in…oh… a couple of months. Freezing rain here today. Blah! But never mind….you look mahvehlous, dahling!

  2. A very nice outfit indeed. However I agree with your previous comment about the buttons on the blazer. For me they detract from the blazer. I would probably change them to a dark, more neutral color.

  3. Love this combination. I have the white linen tank from EF and it is fabulous to wear. Looks great under the blazer. And the leopard bag is a great touch.

  4. Have a look at the Oryany calf hair studded leopard bag…snagged one and it is better in person than in the photo if that is possible! It is slightly edgy just for fun.

  5. I have THAT LEOPARD BAG as well…………I put it inside my OTHER BAG!SOMETimes I feel like i’m carrying luggage around!
I would be interested if you find a cross body leopard bag!!!

    1. Hi henny, thanks so much! I’ve looked at that bag and it’s cute. I’d like to see if I can find something with a flap or single opening. If not, that one’s a possibility. 🙂

  6. I don’t know what it is, Susan, but you get prettier every time I see you — in real time or here. Happy Unbirthday as Alice would say. Now that I know you and My-Reason-For-Living-In-France have the same birthday, I’ll never forget.

    Talk soon.

  7. I love this look. I need tall sizes, so I was thrilled to find in your collection of similar items that the JCrew jacket is available in tall sizes. I’m puzzled about that collar though. They show it on the website with a button up shirt underneath. How would that style look with a tank or other non-collared shirt underneath?

    1. Hi JulieAnn, thanks! If you’re referring to the Regent jacket, I’ve owned one and wore it with tees and collarless sweaters. I think it looks good either way.
