casual vendredi
Expect a shower or two, but don’t let it deter you from getting out and seeing the sights. Walking is the best way to explore Paris!

This is almost exactly what I wore to the market last Saturday. Down to the red bag and scarf. White Adidas. Colorful striped caddy for hauling veggies, and a matching multicolored striped umbrella, which I didn’t need. Here, you never go out without sunglasses, even if it starts out raining.
Do you know the Little Marcel brand? It’s popular around here–the factory isn’t far–and the colorful stripes are ubiquitous, even when not the brand’s own.
So nice to see some color!! This looks like how I live! So comfy and still classy-
This is such a “me” outfit-love it!
Though I’ve been to Paris and even lived there–for a summer–I have never been there in April. As usual, I like your selection of clothing, what I really love is this Louis Armstrong and Billie Holliday version of the song….https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hspart=iba&hsimp=yhs-1&type=rmds_5170_CRW_US&p=april+in+paris+louis+armstrong
Well timed! It’s raining here this morning. Have a great weekend and good luck.
Lovely combination of items and colors!
Love it! April in Paris? 2017? Fingers crossed we get there.
Love the raincoat, I took it with me to venice and paris. BUT it doesn’t have enough buttons, it’s always flying open on the bottom and the fabric is so slinky that it slips off my shoulders if not buttoned. The hood is beautiful but again slinky so it doesn’t stay up. It also has no warmth whatsoever and France is COLD in the spring! It is beautiful but very unsuitable for travel. I ended up wearing my Patagonia short rain jacket instead and looking tres unfashionable. Needless to say I bought a columbia trench coat for venice and scotland next week.
You may need something warmer! We have snow this morning in Northern England!
I’m leaving for London next week. Temps look to be typical 50’s, some showers. My footwear is the biggest uncertainty. I’ve got flat black booties for rain, black perforated suede lace ups, black and coral New Balance “trainers”. Will I miss NOT having a pair of the white adidas everyone seems to be wearing? Seem so impractical for London. Advice please. Thanks Femme!
Marg, my own inclination would be to leave the white adidas at home, just because they would be hard to keep clean, especially if you go “off pavement.”
Hi Marg, I am in the UK at the moment & I have not seen a lot of white sneakers. a cold front has come thru, with rain, so maybe that is why. Maryann
Thanks, Maryann!
Thanks Susan! That is my inclination, too. I’ve just seen so much reference to Women of every Age, traipsing about in their Stan Smiths looking ever so trendy. Ha!
I love this little style combo Susan. I’m headed to Paris in May— I can “shop from my closet” and build this look!! Thank You.
And isn’t it the most beautiful city in the world. Rain or shine.
I would recommend a warmer jacket for April in Paris. I am there now and it’s been quite chilly with lots of rain for at least part of the day. Still beautiful nonetheless!
This outfit looks like a Cote D Azur ensemble for later Spring instead of for wearing in chic Paris. Really, French women, especially Parisians would not wear this. They know horizontal stripes flatter no one and leave those shirts to be purchased by tourists who have an inaccurate idea of French chic.
Ooh nice raincoat!
Perfect wardrobe for almost anywhere year round. Love it!
