Room With A View: London

Knightsbridge Road Hyde Park

Well, it’s not the most charming view we’ve ever had, but that’s Hyde Park on the other side of all of the road construction, so no complaints! You can also see both the old and new double-decker city bus styles.

We landed yesterday morning in London, and arrived at our hotel* around noon. Our room wasn’t ready, so we grabbed a sandwich in the lobby lounge, and set out for a stroll around the area.

This is our third stay in London and we’ve never seen much of Hyde Park. The rain (which apparently has been playing havoc with the Wimbledon schedule) let up long enough for a quick pass around the eastern end of the park. We’ll definitely be back to explore more of it.

Spent a couple of hours resting up and unpacking a bit, then it was time for a pint at a nearby pub…

We’re off to do more exploring today, and meet up for lunch with someone you might know…more soon!

*I’ll be posting some more detailed recaps of our trip once we’re back home, including our various lodgings.

How smart to have a park nearby, especially one as expansive as Hyde Park! Nice way to decompress from all the energy of London, when you have some time to unwind — and I’m always so fascinated by Speakers’ Corner. You look remarkably fresh for someone who’s so recently spent 8 or 9 hours on a plane! Say hi to Alyson for me (unless I’ve guessed wrong, in which case, Oops! 😉

Don’t miss the statue of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens which is sort of a continuation of Hyde Park!

So London doesn’t look any warmer than when I was there last week! Looks like you have packed a bit more smartly than I did

Enjoy London! The V&A has an exhibit on undergarments going on, if I’m not mistaken. We did a trip up to Windsor, which was lovely. Queen Mary’s Dollhouse, not to be missed. And the exchange rate should be quite favorable now….wonder if the sales are still on.

I think we might try to see that V&A exhibit today or Tuesday. Sadly we’re just going to miss the Georgia O’Keefe exhibit opening at the Tate on Wednesday. Woke up this morning to blue skies (not a cloud in sight!!!) and a forecast for some warmer temperatures! (70F)

Well, when the hotel and its view are too nice, it’s tempting to just stay there and enjoy it instead of getting out and experiencing the view from the inside.
    Looks like you packed right!

May I ask what your coat is, and do you just take one? Love the green.

Hi Laura, Thanks! Mine’s a few years old and no longer available, but here’s one that’s similar and also water-resistant: http://bit.ly/29cIh23

London is such a city of parks and gardens! I really like your coat. It is casual without looking like “wilderness wear.” Are you visiting Kew Gardens?

Welcome to Blighty, Susan. It’s sunny down here in Sussex, so thanks for bringing the California sun over with you in your luggage! I hope it didn’t tip you over your baggage allowance.
    Enjoy your stay, PP.
