Out And About (With Out-Takes)

outfit with leopard print top, olive pants, red bag

On our way out to dinner Saturday night, le Monsieur and I stopped off at The Platform in Culver City to see what was new. This is a retail space that opened up earlier this year, and includes some pop-up shops as well as more permanent stores. We also thought it might be a good opportunity to play with the Sony point-and-shoot camera we picked up a few months ago and haven’t used much yet. We assumed it would be quiet at that time of day. We hadn’t counted on a Pumpkin Patch, and tons of kiddies in every direction, but not to be deterred….

Gucci bag, olive pants, Phillip Lim mules

(My feet are really not that HUUUGE.)

Wearing: cardigan (similar) | top | pants | necklace | bracelet | bag | shoes

With so many people around, it was a bit weird trying to take outfit photos. Le Monsieur joked and tried to get me to relax, but I felt self-conscious and kept goofing around…goofing around

And while we were doing this set, a young woman with a very serious-looking camera decided that le Monsieur taking pictures of me was an interesting photographic subject. (Yes, she asked permission to take our photos.) Hopefully it was just a class project….

Edited to add: as of today (10/17) that leopard top is included in a 30% off promotion with code GETSHOPPING.

  1. I cannot get over how much better you look when you mix up colors like these and a print or two in moderation Love the pants color- so tired of so much black!!! And that red purse !!! Perfection!!

    1. Thanks, KSL! It’s a nice space and parking is easy. It’s worth a visit just for the Freda Salvador, Blue Bottle coffee and the ice cream place. 😉 Most of the retail is sort of alt-fashion-forward…a Barney’s-esque vibe.

  2. I love the out-takes – they show someone having fun, and looking great! I prefer them to the usual “perfect” shots – they just seem more real to me, and they make me smile . . .

    1. Thanks Jennifer! I think it’s probably becoming less weird over time with so many people either taking selfies or being more aware of street style and style blogs. Still, I can’t help feeling a little silly… 🙂

  3. The dreaded AUDIENCE. Gaaah. I hear you. I clench up when I’m with my tripod with nearby onlookers. That said, I have developed the ability to tune out the highrise audiences. Mostly I think people don’t care.

I love your out-takes. You are fortunate to have someone to goof around with. Heh. No doubt that woman was admiring your team effort and will use that photo as leverage to get her own partner to take her photos. This is a great outfit and I love the slight distortion in the chair shot.
