From LA, With Love…
Here’s a slightly different look with some of the same pieces from last week’s outfit post. A simple outfit base (here dark jeans and a black top) can be the foundation of a variety of looks, just by swapping out some of the accessories and a top layer. (If I’d planned this first photo shoot better, I would have remembered a second pair of shoes, but hey, Rookie Mistake.)
Wearing: earrings | necklace | cardigan (similar) |
top (similar) | ring | bag | jeans | shoes
When I first purchased this long cardigan a couple of years ago I wasn’t sure how practical it would be, but find that I reach for it often. It’s a perfect weight for our climate on all but the coldest days. In the summer I wear it over a tank top, and this time of year over a long-sleeved tee.
Yes, those are different frames above than in the other photos. I purchased these in Paris in December, brand Lafont. Similar style here. More Lafont eyewear HERE.
This area is such a great spot for photos. Lots of fun backdrops!
Yes, I was wearing my sunscreen! 🙂

Glad you bought the glasses. They look great.
I like your new haircut!
Love the outfit, and your nails look great!
Love this outfit! You’ve inspired me for spring!
Love your new hair, new glasses, clothes, backdrops and photographer. Really do!
The outfit is great, as always. The new glasses are very flattering. The photography is exceptional, and we all appreciate seeing more of you.
I love the beige long sweater, Susan. It’s perfect for our LA days. Glad to read you had your sunscreen on too, many forget this time of year!
You must be so pleased with your new photographer — she’s doing such a great job! And I’m guessing she’s pretty happy with the gig — hanging out with such a stylish, lively woman in some fun spots. Perhaps you could say a few words about where you do the shoots for those of who barely know LA but might want to explore it more someday or who just enjoy a bit of armchair travel. I love the artwork here.
Hi Frances, thanks so much! These shots were taken on and around Abbot-Kinney Blvd. in the Venice Beach area. Just south of Santa Monica. (It’s also a great shopping area, as well as Main Street just north of here.)
And I still owe you an email, had jeune homme here for the weekend and got a bit distracted… 😉
For those of us who don’t live in California but visit on occasion, a series of posts on travelling in your lovely state would be wonderful. Things like the must see towns/cities, where to eat, shop, sights, etc.
One of these days, I’ll have to see that for myself…. no worries about the email. Hope you had a good weekend with your young fellow.
Most of my outfits start with a pair of jeans and build from there. I bought a long sweater but have yet to wear it. I’m not sure why, because I like it on you and others I have seen. I have a question though. Does your shoe color clash with your purse ( undertones )?
Hi Joanna, I don’t think they clash, but some prefer to match warm-warm and cool-cool when it comes to accessories.
Looking fabulous lady. i always love your choice of clothing. But they look fab in your new environments. Hats off to your photographer. Great stuff.
I like how well-put-together this looks and in casual style, my kind of outfit! Do you find that the light linen sweater leaves lint on the black tee? Sometimes that’s an issue with a cotton-linen blend over dark tops and I’m the type to be peeling it off then putting back on throughout the day. I love the long necklace, so great with this ensemble!
Love your photos and outfit today. Re the top right photo (Jodi Crop Jean) – any idea what shoes she has one (a zip espadrille) and where I could get them! I think I’ve dreamt about those shoes!
Hi Weezie, I think the zip espadrilles may be these: http://bit.ly/2kLCJUe
Fabulous photos!! My base usually begins with dark skinny jeans or EF pants. Love your new glasses!!
Wonderful outfit, very “you”, and I am enjoying all the artistic backdrops. Thanks for linking up and stay fabulous, xo

Sue, have you stopped coloring your hair?
it looks fabulous.
J’adore the entire post. Love, love, love Lafont frames, and have succumbed to two over the years myself. You look relaxed and very Santa Monica-Venice-ish.
There is so much new to like, new locations, the new photo style … And your great new hairstyle!
My issue with those linen-blend sweaters is that if you’re a cross-body bag person they pill and pull at the hip where your bag rubs. i find that I end up taking my long cardigan to work and wear it once I get there when my bag is locked in my desk drawer, but it’s not a element that’s sturdy enough for wearing in transit.
I wish there was more serious “adult” hemp clothing. Under my merino pullover and my (sorry) polar fleece jacket (only worn at home, as in very casual for working at home) is a hemp top I’ve had for at least 10 years, which is still fine. Unfortunately, perusing hemp garments here in Montréal, I’ve seen mostly doper-themed stuff that would have been for teens, but is now far too kitschy. Hemp is a wonderful fibre, silky and strong.
I also love your photographer’s eye. The bright background almost evoked “Happy” in LA.
You look so lovely and the photographs are fantastic. I love the outfit, the hair and nails. You look so happy, fresh and relaxed.
What a great outfit! I think this is one of my favorites. You look great!
