(Re)mix Master

black, grey and white outfit

Several of you have commented that you’d like to see some of the same pieces styled in multiple ways, so for this look I’ve re-mixed a couple of items from recent outfit posts. The black jacket debuted here. And yes, those are the same jeans, bag and shoes I wore in last week’s look.

French Kande layering necklace

The white turquoise necklace is c/o French Kande. I borrowed a medallion from another FK necklace and added to this one. The grey bead necklace is from Ann Lightfoot, and is a couple of years old.

It’s been a busy week. Our dogs are getting up there in years, and their breed (King Charles Spaniels) are prone to mitral valve disease as they age. So far we’ve been lucky, and the vets have detected only very minimal heart murmurs. But at their checkup last week, the vet noticed that Coco’s heart rhythm was irregular. So yesterday she had a workup with the veterinary cardiologist. The good news: her heart rhythm seems to be fine. The bad news: she’s beginning to show signs of mitral valve disease and heart enlargement. But the vet gave her some medication that has shown good results in slowing the progression of heart disease in dogs, so we’re hopeful.

What pieces in your closet do you find easy to remix?

  1. I love that jacket. Today I pulled out a rough silk jacket that I bought 20 years ago in Malaga and it was just so right. Luckily the shoulders aren’t big and it has a classic shape that still works. I was very pleased. I love the colors–gold, brown, black.

  2. Thanks for bringing grey jeans to my attention….would give me different look with so many black and red pieces.

    1. Thanks, Ann! Yes, so often we look at clothing shapes and colors and forget about texture, but it’s an important component and adds so much to an outfit.

  3. This jacket blends beautifully with grey jeans, the grey seems to tone down the black whereas blue jeans create a sharper contrast. You could take your black and grey outfit just about anywhere! Grey jeans have become my wardrobe staple.

  4. Thank you for finding another source for the jacket. It was sold out in my size on many of the sites on the first post. Fingers crossed it works for me as well as it does for you!

    1. Hi Nicole, you’re welcome! I’m making an effort to include multiple sources for items whenever I can. Glad it helped!

  5. Great outfit, very versatile! I have a cavalier too. He’s now 11 and due to his progression is on both the beta blocker and the ace inhibitor. But he still enjoys his walks and is doing okay. We have a great cardiologist. If you don’t already, you might want to monitor your pup’s resting respiratory rate. It’s easy to do, and helps you notice patterns.

  6. Hmm, may have to consider some pale gray jeans for early spring! They could play off navy, pink, white, black! You always have something to make my style wheels turn!
So sorry to hear about Coco’s heart.I went down that path with my first Cavalier. The challenge for me was getting all the pills in him several times a day! I found port wine cheese spread to be the best way to make the “medicine go down”! I think there’s an app that can help with monitoring the heart rate. It was in the early stages a about 5 years ago and I recall our cardiologist mentioning it.

    1. Hi Christi, I’ve really been pleased with how well these jeans work with a variety of looks.

I’m lucky with our dogs, they gobble down meds with a pill pocket or other soft dog treat. The vet has me monitoring her respiration during deep sleep; she seems to be right where they want her to be so far.

  7. Susan, you always look so Chic…no matter what you wear!
(You are just one of those lucky ladies who have natural style).
Grey jeans can be versatile and add a little more interest than black.
These look incredibly classy with your black shoes and red toes.
    Perfect!

  8. Susan–first, I send good wishes to you and your pooches. I hope you are all happy and thriving. Second, I love the outfit and was wondering how long the longer necklace is? I believe the French Kande with the medallion is 30″. Yes? Thank you! I’m so happy I found you. I’ve been searching for a while for a site like this!
