Casual Vendredi: In-Between Weather

jeans outfit with navy tunic and Italian scarf

Too warm for a sweater and too cool for a tee….so I threw on this easy Winser London cotton knit tunic (gifted) in Midnight Navy. I’m wearing a size Small; as with the hooded cardigan, I think I probably could have sized down to the XS for a closer fit. The fabric is really outstanding on this piece as well, soft but substantial. Other colors available too.

The scarf was another purchase from Italy, and one I’ve been wearing almost daily. It’s sheer cotton, a large carré from brand Falconeri. Sadly, they don’t ship to the US either, but if you’re visiting Italy, keep an eye out for one of their shops.

leather and cotton net bag, French Kande bracelets

So, about the quirky bag that looks kind of like a hanging planter…I LOVE it! It’s lightweight, comfortable to carry, and the wide open shape makes it easy to find keys and other belongings. Perfect for day-to-day running around. I’ve received SO many compliments on this “Moreau” bucket bag in the few days I’ve had it. Be advised, the company does not accept returns on bags, but I’m enjoying (and using) mine so have no regrets.

Here’s a closer shot of the bracelets. They’re from the two most recent French Kande collections. The African opals are lovely stones that mix well with lots of other pieces. And I love anything with a bee motif! I wear this bracelet almost daily.

3.1 Phillip Lim Cube mules

I purchased these mules last year, and they’ve turned out to be one of those great neutrals that goes with just about anything. Other colors are available, and I’ve included some that are less pricey but with a similar look in the widget below.

I’ll be posting some of my picks from the great sales going on now, but if you want to get a jump here are a few to check out:

Have you ever purchased something a little “offbeat” that turned out to be a favorite piece?

  1. That bag is a hoot, Sue. And I love your Italian scarf. I have very few light scarves. Hmmm that might be a niche in my wardrobe that I need to fill.

  2. I actually had to go back and re-read the post because I was so focused on that bag. It is not just speaking to me, it is YELLING at me to buy it. LOL–I added a little bit of you on one of my recent posts about packing –the foam thing for cleaning!!! Oh yeah. It’s great!!!

  3. That bag is just silly! I guess some may call it whimsy. At first I thought the post was going to be about clever ways to carry the new gardening pot home. 🙂 To each her own, to be sure. Enjoy! I looked at the cotton sweater and it was interesting to see the sizing on the European chart. 39-42″ bust is considered size 16-18. Granted, that is a little bit broader range (US sizes usually cover a couple of inches at most). Once again I am reminded how much they are slimmer in Europe.

  4. No on the purse. Absolutely no. If going to the beach maybe.. honestly??
You have such great taste but no to the bag.

  5. Haha that bag made me laugh! In a good way!! Very charming. But how can a retailer not allow returns on handbags? That doesn’t seem very smart to me.

  6. To quote Coco Chanel: “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.”

    Less is more.

  7. Hmm, not a fan of this outfi,t and the bag just didn’t work for me. Though the bag did make me smile…always a good thing, one should definitely have fun with accessories, I kept picturing it with a faux Gerbera Daisy peeking gaily out. I think I would have liked it better in a color, so it would be a less authentic plant pot. I do commend you for going with it and enjoying it. That’s what personal style is all about, otherwise we’d all be wearing uniforms, or the same thing. Sadly most of your shoe suggestions don’t work for my wide foot. Canny shopper who follow your blog will know that (at least on the Nordstrom site) one can search by size, width and gender to get all the selections possible at one fell swoop which saves aggravation and disappointment. Those of you with normal width feet have to shop by shoe category because there’d be so many selections, since almost every shoe comes in B width, even if it’s offered with other sizes. Always get something out of your blog, keep up the good work.
