The Easy White Shirt
I posted a while back about having given up on The Crisp White Shirt (When Must-Haves Are No-Go’s). Since then, I’ve come to appreciate the charms of an Easy White Shirt. Softer and more relaxed than its Crisp cousin, a style like this one in linen dances around the edges of Classic (button-front, a collar) while retaining a laid-back attitude.

It was an absolutely gorgeous evening when we shot these photos last week in Marina del Rey. I just love being near the water.
This linen shirt is from Eileen Fisher, and is a couple of years old now. I’ve used my “broomstick” method to create some deliberate creases. I’m wearing it over an EF silk tank.
I decided to pick up the orange of the sandals with a (now vintage) Hermés leather wrap bracelet. The bag is sold out at this time, but you can put your name on a waiting list and will be notified when it’s back in stock. I’ve linked to a few other fun styles in the widget below.

Do you have plans for the 4th? Or are you just going to “chill out?”

Nordstrom Rack has a nice Foxcroft white linen shirt on sale for $19.97! Lots of sizes.
Susan, I love all your warm colored accessories with that classic pairing of jeans and linen. I so want a leather Hermes bracelet! Hubby gave me a lovely “clic-clac” H bracelet last year for our anniversary. For this year’s gift I’m trying to choose between your wraparound style and the more butch chien one. I love the statement of the chien model, but wonder if I might not get more wear with the wraparound version. Thoughts, anyone?
I’d go wraparound, for just the reasons you laid out here.
.Love that look. So easy. I must try your broomstick method. Going to read about it right now.
I love a white shirt as probably one of the most versatile pieces around, with a tux, with jeans, anything. You look great! And thanks for sharing that broomstick technique. I have that Hermes bracelet in black. The person who gave it to me said it was a neckpiece. I wore it on my wrist anyway.
I love this look and the photos are fab.
I have to admit to giving up on the white shirt but seeing the wow effect of your whole outfit I will definitely aim for the look this Southern Hemisphere summer.
I would love to know the brand of this fabulous bag! Please do share.
Hi Nancy, thanks. It’s the Staud “Moreau” bag. http://bit.ly/2sm8dl4
I like the idea of an “Easy” shirt. Although I wear one at times, “Crisp” doesn’t stay crisp long in my reality.
So wonderful seeing you this weekend!
Helen
Love what you did with “broomsticking” the shirt. I got rid of my linen shirt because I hated the wrinkling. Too bad since linen would be a great fabric in this summer heat in Arizona. If I still had my linen shirt I would try your technique and I suspect I would like it much better.
