French Kande dropped their new Fall collection (“Anvers”) last week, and it’s another gorgeous one! New stone options include Tiger’s Eye, Faceted Onyx, Faceted Labradorite, and even more designs featuring Swarovski crystals. They’ve added some fun new medallions to the mix, including this “Rex” medallion with embedded Swarovski crystals.

All of the French Kande pieces are made-to-order in Los Angeles. The materials and workmanship are top-notch. They look great worn one at a time or layered. For those who are new to French Kande, the medallions are cast from original vintage pieces from the 1960’s that Kande first discovered in a Paris flea market a few years ago.

I’ve been asked from time to time what pieces I would recommend for the first-time buyer, and my answer is to choose a necklace length first, then look at the designs that most appeal to you. I find a mid-length (28-30″) necklace is easy to wear on its own, and layers well with shorter or longer necklaces. I’d recommend this length for a “starter” piece. Longer necklaces that can be worn single or doubled also expand your options. I think the stone bead necklaces provide a lot of visual impact worn alone, so are good “starter” options. But if you prefer a more delicate look, you may find the chain necklaces are easier to incorporate into your jewelry wardrobe.

Not everyone is a fan of mules (I am!) but flat and low-heeled mules continue to be a big footwear trend for fall. I’m especially loving all of the embellished styles, which add a lot of oomph to a simple outfit. (And when you’re not wearing a lot of layers, that extra oomph goes a long way.)

Here are a few styles that caught my eye…

How do you add visual interest to a summer outfit when it’s too warm for layers?

  1. I love the look of mules but my foot is so narrow that they slide right off! As for adornments during summer, I stick to the same thing–a sort -of choker length Kendra Scott necklace my daughter Oona gifted me with. A watch, hoop earrings and a leather bracelet.

  2. I LOVE mules and am so happy that they are on trend for fall. I purchased Kate Spade’s embroidered mules from Nordstrom and am saving them for fall. I’ve been wanting to try a French Kade piece so that is my next purchase.

  3. The sun is so hot here in Florida, that even when I can’t bear to wear more jewelry than my wedding band, I almost always put a cotton scarf around my neck, for SPF protection. The scarves also add color to my simple linen outfits.
