Casual Outfit In Navy And Olive
Strolling Into The Long Weekend Like…
Do you have plans for the Labor Day weekend? Le Monsieur and I are looking forward to a little down time before our kitchen/bathroom renovation project begins to ramp up. There’s a daunting amount of prep work to do before construction begins. We’re just waiting on the final draft of the floor plan, and have begun researching materials. And that’s the fun part! The not-so-fun part: we still have to sort through and pack up everything in the kitchen and bathroom in the next few weeks.

I’ve often said I’m print-averse, but now and then I find one I really like. This navy silk top has an easy-to-wear small and repetitive print that livens up a simple outfit without making me feel drowned out.
I just can’t do heavy bags anymore. I still prefer the look of a leather bag though, so I’ve learned to size down and pass up a lot of hardware or extraneous details that add weight. Bags like this one are great for everyday use. It holds a wallet, phone, keys, lipstick, small sunglasses case, and tube of hand lotion with ease. And being able to wear it cross-body is much easier on my shoulders.
I bought those slide sandals almost exactly a year ago, when I was visiting New York with Lisa. They were expensive, but I haven’t regretted the purchase, as they go with so much in my wardrobe, and are really comfortable. At the time, they were the only ones I’d seen in this style and color, but now there are some similar options for less here and here.
I love being out near the water, and that cool sea breeze. Bon weekend!

Susan you look fabulous in this photo!
Thanks so much, Suzanne!
Great outfit! My navy jacket from Rome showed up along with my daughter a week ago. IT IS FABULOUS! The tailoring is spot on. Bought a 10 but definitely could have worn an 8. Looking for a decent tailor to take up the sleeves and hem a bit. My grandfather was a master tailor from Italy so I’m a bit fussy with workmanship. He was wonderful! Made all my prom gowns and coats. Miss him for so many reasons. Those Dijon colored Vince sneakers from Nordstrom are on sale. Wanted to let you know in case you’e interested.
On another note have you ever purchased a pair of Aquatalia shoes? Are they comfortable? Would they accomodate a high arch wide foot?
Whoops accommodate
Hi Lisa, thanks! I’m so glad you like the jacket. It really is a beautifully made piece. I’m going to have to try the sneakers, thanks! Yes, I have a few pairs of Aquatalia boots and find them quite comfortable. They were all I wore in Paris last December. It really depends on the style, I think. I tried on one pair recently that were too hard to pull on because of my arch, but most I’ve tried have fit really well. Some styles can be too narrow for my wide-ish foot, but I’ve had good luck with their boots, even the pointy ones.
I love these colors – and that French Kande blue-green is exactly the kind of subtle color-echo-distortion I favor when I try to up my style a bit.
Thanks Lisa!
I follow your blog with interest and I love your style, but this outfit is a miss in my opinion. The navy and white print combined with olive pants looks tossed together. I would have liked to have seen the shirt with white or even red pants. As an alternative, playing up the caramel shades from the accessories might have worked better with ivory tones with the olive pants. All of the pieces are great individually, but together, maybe not so much. I hope you can forgive me for naysaying, I don’t wish to offend.
Thanks for the feedback and no offense taken! 🙂 We all have different tastes and preferences.
I think this outfit is lovely. You are very graceful in your reply, Susan.
Thanks so much, Yael!
Great outfit. I’m with you on prints and agree on small scale to add interest – almost like an accessory. Also really embracing crossbody for the same reason as you. Highly tempted with the grey version of yours even with the shipping cost to NZ.
Thanks, Angela! I do love the bag, and find it’s a good value for the price.
I love this top and I have been looking for a similar print! Navy and olive are two of my favorites. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks so much, Pam!
I love the combination of navy and khaki. Have a great weekend x
Thanks, Alyson!
I also love the navy and khaki on you — and with the tannish purse and shoes.
You did good. 🙂
Hope you have a lovely weekend prior to The Big Remodel. Keep remembering: “One day, this will be finished, and we’ll love it. Ommmm.”
🙂
Thanks so much, Ann! Yes, “Ommmmm” indeed. 😉 Plus keeping the corkscrew handy…
Great photos. Like you, I struggle with heavy bags these days. The one you have here looks perfect for the job.
Thanks, Melanie! Getting used to the idea of a smaller bag was a big adjustment for me, but it’s really helped.
I love navy and khaki too. Great for springing into fall. Ha. Pun intended. Have a great weekend, Sue.
Thanks, Susan!
I have a similar outfit that I plan to wear soon. My navy top has a green leaf print and the bell sleeve that is so popular. Was trying to figure out shoes-I have a light tan suede similar to yours. Was wondering if that would work with the khaki green and navy? I just love this look on you!!!
Hi Jill, thank you! I tend to find this shoe color works with just about everything. 🙂 But try it and see how you like it.
I love the color combination with the olive pants. Love your style.❤️❤️
Thanks so much, Hunt!
I noticed your blouse is from Amour Vert. I just bought two Angela Surpluce shirts. The best feeling and fitting blouses I’ve ever had. Super comfy but dresser than a regular tee. Went back to get the light gray but it was sold out.
Hi Robyn, I have one tee from them that I absolutely adore. Sadly it’s no longer available…if it were I’d snap it up in every color!
I’m thinking of doing the same. I also like that they are made responsibility. That’s for adding responsibly made clothes to your blog.
