Wear It In Paris: Fall Styles From Halsbrook

Fall styles from Halsbrook. Details at une femme d'un certain age.One week from today I’ll be waking up in Paris! So yes, I have Paris on the brain. When the lovely people at Halsbrook invited me to feature some items from their Fall collection, I envisioned some Paris-worthy outfits.

Many thanks to Halsbrook for sponsoring this post. All ideas, words and opinions are my own.

Morning Farmers’ Market

Above, I imagined strolling through one of the fabulous farmers’ markets that pop up in various neighborhoods throughout the week. A small crossbody bag holds cash and essentials, and a trench wards off some light morning drizzle.

Don’t forget to bring a couple of nylon or mesh shopping bags too!

Dinner With Friends

Outfit with dress and tweed coat from Halsbrook. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

Evenings can get chilly, so I’ve paired an easy knit dress with a funnel-neck tweed coat.

  1. I love that you included waterproof footwear! Nothing ruins a trip like soggy shoes so bravo! The trench is so pretty too!
I have a question, in the winter I am so affected by cold and wind that I must cover my ears/ head. Any of you chic readers have suggestions for warmth and style? (A knit cap that fits snug ruins the ‘do. )

    1. Hi Meg, I’ve traveled with a sweater or jacket with a hood before, and found it handy to keep my head warm without incurring “hat head.”

    2. Meg, I suffer from earaches from wind, despite the fact that I love cold weather. My solution involves purpose made bandeaus (for winter sports, and horseback riding where they fit under my helmet) which I can wear over my ears but under my bangs/fringe. Here is an example (for ideas, I have not purchased these) but I usually buy mine from tack stores or even local department stores. Some have holes in the back for ponytails. https://www.etsy.com/listing/255177890/fleece-ear-warmer-monogrammed-fleece-ear?ref=pla_similar_listing_top-4 There are also Buffs which are a combination neck warmer, ear cover, scarf or even turban. http://www.buffwear.com/ways-to-wear Hoods on coats are wonderful as well. Hope those suggestions help.

  2. I posted this by accident on the wrong day. It goes here! I love Acquatlia boots. They are pricey for me, but they are a good investment. They are especially good for travel, being comfortable for walking, and waterproof. I haven’t tried the shoes/loafers, but your post motivates me to buy a pair. There are several cute colors but, I will probably go with black. As much as I try to branch out, black is tried and true, and I know I will wear them more than another color. With this price point, that will make the “cost per wear” sensible for me.

  3. Perfect outfits–if packing it all weren’t an issue. Are you going to take at least two coats and shoes and boots to Paris? (Variable fall weather seems to call for more options and a bigger suitcase.)

    1. Tess, I don’t own any of these pieces. (Though I’d happily wear most of them!) I’ll be finalizing and posting my own travel wardrobe in the next few days. And yes, I’ll be taking at least two pairs of shoes and two coats. 🙂

  4. Leaving in a week for Normandy and as a So Cal resident I’m at a loss for packing. Looking forward to your post

  5. I was in Paris last week, and it was chilly, rainy and windy. You’ll be happy to have layers and waterproof boots. Have a safe and enjoyable trip!

  6. Halsbrook is a wonderful company to deal with. I would order more from them, but most of their items are more formal than my casual life in retirement requires. I love their scarves… colorful, original, and not what you see everywhere else. If I still worked, I would be tempted to order all my clothes for work from them.

  7. Your timing is excellent. I just purchased something from Halsbrook yesterday and when they asked how I found out about them, I said your blog! Keep up the good work!

  8. I love the first grouping from your post here. I love the trench and the colors of the other pieces. And Im not a fan of snub toed shoes or boots. So – I want thesevpointed toed shoes!!!!
