Outfit: Kicking Casual Up A Notch
A Lightweight Leopard Coat
This has really been a banner year for leopard print coats and jackets. Leopard may be somewhat on trend this season, but to me it’s a style perennial and a neutral. No, I didn’t need another leopard print coat, but one that’s light enough to wear several months out of the year feels like a good investment.

This cotton twill coat has been calling my name all season, but I took a chance and waited for it to go on sale. As of yesterday, the coat was still available in a few sizes. I’m wearing DK 34. (It runs a little large, I think). More sizes available here, though at full price now also on sale!
I’m so pleased! The cotton twill fabric is lovely, and meets my criteria for “softly structured.” (Lining is silk.) The print is good-looking, and the cut is timeless. I’ll be able to wear this here in all but the warmest months. And because the sleeves are bracelet-length, I don’t need to have them shortened!
I love pairing leopard print and red. This Gucci crossbody has turned out to be such a great little everyday bag, and really holds a lot without being too heavy. The shadow opal stone bracelet (gifted) from French Kande features a Jeanne medallion. It’s a nice neutral piece that goes with everything.
These Stuart Weitzman boots are now 13? 14? years old and have been one of my best footwear investments to date. They’re incredibly comfortable and add a dash of refinement to a casual look. More Stuart Weitzman ankle boots here.

I wear this exact look often…one of my favorites with the leopard. You are so right…it has been a banner year for leopard coats…and I love it.
Susan, you look amazing. especially love these earrings. thanks.
Nice boots. How do you protect the point of your leather boots and flats from damage?
Hi SuD, thanks! I polish them regularly which seems to keep the scuffing under control.
Love the coat with the red bag. Definitely cool looking.
I love leopard and have three jackets in various lengths. My favorite raincoat is a reversible dark leopard that I still get compliments on after several years. I have a couple of leopard sweaters and two shoes…flats and kitten heels. Leopard always cheers me up! I love all of yours, too!
HANDBAGS AND SHOES!
Love this. Also seems quintessentially you <3.
I have shoes similar to what your wearing. They are not SW but are also the most comfortable booties that I own. I hate it that they are showing some wear.
Nice pairing!!
What a beautiful coat!! This is your second leopard coat this year. You are doing well. It really suits you. I bet you don’t know which one to wear first. And then there is your camel coat. Spoiled for choice. Love it.
The bag is another treasure.
Great outfit Susan. And I hope the fire stays away from your place.

This outfit is perfection on you, and sums up everything I love about your style! It’s what I aspire to. A certain something, without being over the top! You look freaking amazing!
I love leopard, and it’s so versatile!
When you first posted this coat a few months ago I ordered it and it is such a workhorse in my wardrobe! I wore it just last night to a Christmas party and got so many compliments. The perfect 3rd piece, especially in our Southern California climate. Black pants+white silk shirt+leopard coat….done!
I’m so glad it’s worked out well for you!
Hi Susan! Thought Id pop over!.. Hope to bookmark blogs for the new year so i can pop over more . Leopard coats are popping up and i do love it. i have a lighter faux fur, and a faux fur swing coat, both bought on poshmark. I love your lighter coat here, as i too find it a neutral. Your red Gucci bag is so eye catching, id love a great red bag at some point! The booties go great with the look too!
Have a Happy Holiday!

I love Target but don’t generally shop for clothes there (with the exception of tank tops for summer) but I decided to give the Ava & Viv leopard coat a try. I already have a few (well, maybe several) leopard print jackets and coats so I didn’t want to invest a lot in another one. Bottom line, I love this coat! It fits beautifully, is a nice length and isn’t at all bulky! Thanks for the nice recommendation!
Hi Pam, glad to hear it!
