I’m A Morning Person [Sponsored]

Cool Nights pajamas from Soma Intimates. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

I’ve always loved being up before everyone else in the house. I still do. This is my “me time.”

This post is sponsored by Soma and ShopStyle. All ideas and opinions are my own.

There’s nothing like that first sip of coffee. One of my favorite quips is, “some people drink coffee to wake up…I wake up to drink coffee.”

I’m wearing Cool Nights wrap | tee | pants. (Gifted from Soma Intimates.)

Working on the computer with a cup of coffee.

While it’s still quiet, I gather my thoughts, plan my day, and check my email.

Waking up refreshed after a good night’s sleep makes all the difference too. So I was delighted to partner with Soma for their Cool Nights Collection of sleepwear. I’ve worn Cool Nights pajamas for years and love them! They’re soft and breathable, and keep me comfortable all night long.

I like this fun and slightly retro print.

I also appreciate that Soma sells Cool Nights tops and bottoms separately for many pajama styles, so you can mix and match to suit your preferences. And some of the pants are offered in Short and Tall inseam lengths.

    1. Hi Rose, the pants on this set are the “Short Inseam” length. I’ve never had to shorten any of the sleeves. Even the long sleeve styles are fine for me.

  1. What a timely post, Susan. I’ve been jonesing hard lately for some of those gorgeous floral print pajamas that one might (cough) even consider wearing out of the house sometime with a sweet little kitten heel. Of course, the ones that catch my eye are haute couture with a haute couture price tags, so I’m on the lookout for something affordable.

What I’m really in the mood for is a beautiful kimono. I think it’s time I upgraded my loungewear and started dressing up for myself during me-time! It doesn’t matter that no one but my mirror and I can see me wearing it. Thank you for the nudge. 🙂

  2. I wear Soma pajamas as well. I love them for their luxiourious feel. And I feel the same way about getting up earlu and having my cup of coffee. That is the best time of the day! On another note, I am looking for the ultimate bed sheets. I would love my bed to be as delicious as my Soma pajamas. Any suggestions?

  3. I, too, have been a Soma fan for several years–now so are friends and my adult daughters because Soma sleepwear is a luxurious and much appreciated gift.

Their short wrap robe is perfect–not too short, the perfect weight to feel covered and comfortable, breathable, and just right for those activities after shower and before dressing. That would include sipping coffee or English breakfast tea!

Here’s to morning people, of which I’m one, as well, Susan.
    Carpe Diem~

  4. Hmmmm….this has me thinking that maybe, just perhaps, I could upgrade from my favorite 25 year old sweatshirt and Champion sweat pants to something more attractive! Bet they travel well. Just right for upcoming Ireland and England. Thanks. (A night person here!)

  5. I too love the Cool Nights ‘gowns’ and robes at SOMA. They are the best I’ve found, especially for travel. Never wrinkled, (though I may be). One can be presentable as a houseguest in the morning.

  6. This has nothing to do with the jammies but I love your haircut. Would you mind showing us the back in a post soon? I am having trouble getting my stylist(s) to do anything but a sharp “boy cut” in the back and I hate it on me. I’d like to see what yours looks like because the front is exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks! (BTW, I wish I could wake up with my hair looking as good as yours. I look like I saw a ghost.)

  7. I have several of the Cool Nights short sleeves night shirts and like them. In fact, I bought one in the print Susan shows about a week ago. However, I do not think they’re good for travel if you’re gone for more than a week and packed only one night shirt. Why? Because they take so long to dry after washing by hand. I’ve wrapped one in a towel to press out as much moisture as possible, hung it up to try to maximize airflow, and it still took 24 hours plus to dry. Does anyone have a suggestion for a similar short night shirt that dries more quickly?

  8. Look at travel sites for wicking night shirts. That is what I have, and at home, very plain cotton ones. I’m a morning person too, but changed out of nightwear once out of bed, for very casual work-at-home clothes, unless I have to work elsewhere, and put on “real” clothes. Pseu’s ensemble is very pretty, but I don’t personally like lounging in pyjamas. I’m not comfy typing without a bra (at least a soft sport one) for one thing. And I’d most certainly spill espresso on that pretty pastel ensemble!

  9. I love your haircut, also. Your make-up is perfect…..You can clearly see your features yet nothing is too bright…Some of your fellow bloggers might take a lesson from you. As we age we have to be so careful with wearing too much makeup, particularly too bright a lipstick. Susan, you just have it all going for you!!!

  10. This is so beautiful on you! I am a tea drinker, and I never thought about it till reading your post, but I am one who wakes up to drink tea! I look forward to that first cup every morning…and then at lunch and then 3 pm when it’s my tea time. LOL

  11. I sleep in the buff, but slip on a nightgown or short caftan in the morning. I’m looking for zippered robes (short and long). Does anyone know who makes these any more? I have one that’s terribly comfortable, but mumsy. They’re much more practical than belted robes or sweaters/hoodies masquerading as sleepwear.

    1. LL Bean makes a great front zip robe both a winter/ fall version in fleece and a lighter one for spring/summer. Three women I know who own them are under forty, very fashion forward and are no way any bodies mum! I bought one because my teenage son was horrified to see that my belted robe would open “Mother! Please!” The darn things do not stay closed…anyway I own three of the LLBeans, two fleece and one lighter one. Not glamorous but fantastic to wear when the dog runs through the neighbour’s hedge and cannot figure out how to get back in the yard.

      1. I got my zipper robe at Dillards The line is called Miss Elaine. Not exciting, ( pastel colors) but soft , easily washed, and does the job.

  12. Susan, I discovered Soma’s Cool Nights pajamas on your site and have several versions now. They have made a huge difference in how comfortable I am through the night. This print is lovely and I will look for it next time I’m in-store.

  13. I recently learned that Chico’s owns Soma as well as White House/Black Market. That’s probably why the three stores are usually grouped together in a mall.
