Room With A View: Paris!
We’re HERE! We drove in from Lyon yesterday, returned the rental car, and checked in to our hotel just in time to head out to dinner. (Only to find there had been a mixup with our reservation. Fortunately we weren’t far from one of our favorite Paris restaurants, Pirouette, and they were able to seat us.)
We’re on an upper floor on a small street, so no panoramic room view this time. But this will do nicely!
L’Heure Bleue
Walking back to our hotel after dinner, I was able to catch some of that gorgeous Paris dusk, known as l’heure bleue.
The weather is lovely, not too warm, and there’s not much rain in the forecast, at least through the weekend. Today we have a photography lesson in the afternoon! Yes, that’s why I brought my DLSR camera. Paris is always photogenic, but I hope to improve my skills and share even better photos with you.
We haven’t done a lot of shopping on this trip so far, but while in Lyon I did pick up a pair of Mephisto wedge sandals…
I find that some of my outfits just look better with a little bit of heel, and some European brands like Mephisto cost much less here. Wore these here in Paris last night and they are comfortable and stable, even on cobblestones!

Enjoy the photography class! Sounds like a wonderful experience. Love the new sandals — not only are the prices more reasonable for Mephisto shoes in France, but we find that they have a far wider selection of styles, many of which aren’t available from Stateside retailers.
Being a travelor myself, I love reading your posts…before, during and after your trips. I’m in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil right now. Here to run a 1/2 Marathon and enjoy the beautiful area. Thinking thru my clothes like you, I was able to come with only a carry on and backpack for 1 week trip.

You have already left Lyon? Next time, stay longer and come stay at Fenêtres sur (la) Cour, I will share with you my local knowledge about this city I love so much (especially its gastronomy) ! Meanwhile, enjoy Paris !

Your photos are worthy of framing! It’s a great idea to pick up a pair of shoes–the best souvenirs are things that become part of your life when you’re back home.
Buying shoes while traveling really is a great idea. What a good way to bring your trip home with you. Hmmm. 🙂
Cute wedges! I have two pair of Mephisto shoes (a MaryJane canvas shoe and a pair of sandals.) They are so comfortable! Love your photos! Enjoy your trip!
Your pictures are Beautiful! And yes Mephisto and Naot are best for travel. Because I am short 5’1″… all my travel shoes have a wedge. Still comfortable on the stones.
On another note….
I hope you watched your speeds in France.
They have many speed cameras and like to send tickets to the states when you return home. Even for 5 miles over the limit.

Yes, le Monsieur is a bit paranoid about those radar speed checks. He usually drives a few miles under the limit which infuriates the French drivers! 😀
Love your dusk shots! My husband bought Mephisto shoes, and loves them! I am unfortunately allergic to rubber/ rubber glue and can’t wear them and some other wonderful brands, so enjoy them for me! We adored our three weeks in our Paris apartment, all 4 flights, and squeaky floors of it, magnificent!

I’m so glad you enjoyed Lyon. I spent over a month there, doing graduate history research (on my way back home from a year in Italy). So not a large budget (though I did have savings from work) but it was remarkably easy to eat well for half l’addition in Paris! I’ve also bought Mephistos in France on discount, but it was later in the summer; so glad you could find them in late spring

It was a beautiful evening last night, wasn’t it? I was delayed at Heathrow because of the thunderstorms in a Paris but they did leave a beautiful dusk for me as I traveled into the city.
I’ll look forward to seeing what you discover here. I’m off tomorrow to Sancerre for two weeks of language school, then some time in Bourgogne before returning to Paris on June 22. Amusez-vous bien!
