Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: My First Round Picks

It's here...the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Click to see my Early Access picks! Details at une femme d'un certain age. #sale #nordstrom #anniversarysaleIt’s On…The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

If you’re a Nordstrom cardholder, you can now shop the Anniversary Sale. If you’re not already a cardholder, you can apply here.

I’ve now made a couple of initial passes through the sale. Consider this post an appetizer. 😉 I’ll be visiting the store today to check out some of the sale offerings in person, and will continue to dive deeper online and add to my recommendations.

Shown above: AGL slingbacks | skincare gift set | leather tote | bracelet watch |
Aquatalia booties | Sosken plaid coat | Aquatalia knee boots | FRAME denim

Just a reminder, I’ve put together a “cheat sheet” to help you shop the sale strategically.

Though there wasn’t a lot in this year’s catalog that really lit a fire under me, I did bookmark a few things to try. Here are a few of my picks from the first couple of passes through the sale.

(Please be aware that due to volume, some links are taking longer than usual to work.)

  • I’d actually pre-saled this skincare set that included a Wonder Glow highlighter and travel sizes of both the day and night moisturizers.
  • I always take advantage of the sale to pick up another of the Kiehl’s Creme de Corps body lotion.
  • If you need some makeup brushes for travel, here’s a good set of basic brushes.
  • This is the magnifying mirror I have and love, first time I’ve ever seen it on sale!

Well, that should get us started. Just a reminder, I’ll be checking out the sale in person and will post some “reconnaissance” updates tomorrow.

  1. Nice preview picks, Susan. I like that you go through this exercise with us. I am not, yet, a cardholder, so will see if there’s anything left when the sale goes public. I really like the Brahmin bag.

  2. Your links aren’t working, but I suspect it’s a problem on Nordstrom’s end, not yours. It took many, many tries for my first order to “take” this morning. I kept getting an error message, and one thing I wanted did sell out while it was glitching.

    1. Hi T. I’m re-testing all of the links now. Some are a little slow to open but so far seem to be working. I’ll keep an eye on it. Last year I know the volume caused some problems on the Nordstrom website. Sorry for any inconvenience and thanks for the heads up!

      1. I was getting a time-out error, but some of them did work eventually. Thanks! I’m sure it’s not your links but Nordstrom’s site.

    1. Hmmm, I’m testing them all now and they seem to be working, though some take longer than normal to open. Let me know if there’s a specific item you’re interested in and I’ll check on it.

  3. Links are working for me (9:30 Pacific), but apparently the site is having problems – you can put something in a basket, but cannot check out yet.

Thanks for doing this Susan – I was starting to go through the entire site, looking for potential favorites and then decided to check-in here. The ASL smoking slipper and a couple of the jeans are now in my check-out basket. 🙂

    1. I was just able to complete a purchase, so hopefully everything’s working now. (fingers crossed) The AGL smoking slippers are FABULOUS. Just tried them on. TTS.

  4. Can you please tell me which sneaker you wore in Paris and the expandable tote info. Right now the link is saying sold out for me. Thank you!

    1. Hi Rubyred, they were the Cole Haan Grand Pro. I think something’s going on with the Nordstrom site as *everything* is coming up as “sold out” at the moment. You might want to wait a couple of hours and try again.

  5. Dear pseu, do you mind if I raise a teensy disagreement? I say that because there has been a spate of rude comments from people who don’t understand the research and writing work you put in to your site (My work is also on the invisible side).

Namely: “every footwear wardrobe should have at least one pair of leopard-print shoes”. They look utterly smashing on you and are very much a part in your look. Let me explain: like the famous Roman actress Anna Magnani, I’m a catlady. A gattara. I help in the rescue of stray or abandoned cats – and sometimes dogs – and it would be caricatural!

My feline print footwear would be solid black like my tiny black rescued Livia! But I love red shoes.

    Baci e abbracci!
