Here A Sale, There A Sale
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: All Skate!
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is now open to all. If you’re just now beginning to shop the sale, you can see my sale picks here and here. I’ve also set up a more comprehensive SHOP page for the duration of the sale, which I’ll keep updated. As I mentioned in a prior post, our local store didn’t have everything in stock I was interested in so I placed some online orders. I’ve received a few of the items already.
Above: these weatherproof ankle boots are 👏 😍 🎉 They’re super comfortable and great looking. The toe is nice and tapered for a sleeker look. I need to replace my pair of black weatherproof ankle boots, and am seriously considering ordering the black leather as well. They run TTS.

This Eileen Fisher duster was one of the first pieces from the sale that caught my attention. I love the fabric, which is lightweight and drapes nicely, and the pinstripes are fun. It has a tie belt which I’ve tied in the back. (It’s still creased from shipping, should look better once steamed out.) It’s also machine washable, a big plus. I haven’t decided whether to keep it or not; I’ve ordered something similar and will decide once I can compare the two pieces.
These “slender” jeans above are good-looking, but too long in the rise for me. They’re nicely fitted to curve over the hips and taper in at the waist. If you are mid-to-long-waisted, these are definitely worth a try. True to size.
These slim-but-not-super-skinny ankle jeans have a raw edge, but no other whiskering or distressing. The fabric is light and a little bit stretchy. Mid-rise and true-to-size. The lighter weight of the fabric and stretch make these a good travel wardrobe denim option.
I can’t believe I’m enthusiastically recommending a pair of sneakers (I’m “not a sneaker gal,” remember) but I wore this same style all over France recently, and was really impressed with the comfort and good looks. Enough that I’ve also bought them in this subtle metallic/camo print. They run true-to-size.
Just a reminder, some items sell out quickly, but may be restocked during the sale. If something you like isn’t available, just bookmark it and keep checking back.

Hi Susan,
Moving into the 50s a couple of years ago initiated an earnest quest for fashion advice and ideas. I have searched through many blogs and online articles for style tips, but want to tell you that your blog is the absolute best! I love the beautiful clothing, travel shots, practical but stylish selections, and interactive posts. Thanks for all of your hard work and thorough research. 🙂
Your northern neighbour,
Launa
P.S. What jeans are you wearing in this post?
Hi Launa, thanks so much! I’m glad you find the blog helpful. These jeans are actually a couple of years old, from AG Jeans. Here’s a similar style in a slightly lighter wash: http://shopstyle.it/l/OV3Z
Thanks for the suggestion and link.

Hey Susan love these ankle boot choice, well done my dear.
The Aquatalia booties that you have are my NAS purchase…I have the black and they are TDF…I am so glad you put your stamp of approval on these…It makes my choice even more special…
I tried the boots on in the store and have ordered in two sizes, just to be sure. I had been wanting a taupe bootie and these seem well-made and designed. Thanks for featuring in your post.
I bought those Aquilatia ankle boots and sadly had to return them…they are too pointy in the toe. I have very narrow feet and they pinched my toes badly. Darn it! They are beautiful.
Hi Mary Alice, you might want to try going up 1/2 size. My toes are on the wide-ish side and I had no trouble at all.
Love the Eileen Fisher duster on you! Maybe shorten it a bit? It will be a very versatile piece for all seasons. The silver running shoes are great, stylish and look so comfortable. I’m often in Austria & the UK and this type of shoe works well on cobblestones, as well as looking sharpe.
Would you like the duster in black? As much as I Iike navy, black has my heart.
Silver sneakers are not sneakers at all. They’re elevated to a different level, and you can wear them wherever you want. The camo is perfect. Metallic color makes all the difference.
That’s a good question. 🙂 We’ll see when the other piece I ordered arrives. It’s a similar style but mostly black.
I love those boots! What a unique way to place the belt! 🙂 You’ve gotten me into Eileen Fisher and oh my wallet says no but I can’t help but love that duster you found haha
Can’t wait to see if you style it more in another post!! Happy Friday!!
I’ve never been a sneaker girl, either, but this silver pair you’ve featured may have to come see me! Let’s hope they fit… I have a uber narrow foot, so most shoes I just walk out of. Thanks so much, Brenda
The duster looks like a keeper to me, but of course I haven’t seen the other one you ordered. I love the sneakers too!

Those raw-hem jeans are all that! Great picks, Susan. xo
