Some Cool Cats

Leopard print scarf in black-white-grey colorway. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

If you love animal prints, you’re in luck this fall, as they’re on-trend and the selection is good. But many leopard prints are naturally warm-toned, which doesn’t work with everyone’s coloring or preferences. Because many of you have asked, I’ve rounded up a few cool-toned leopard prints.

Leopard Plays It Cool…

Above: a lightweight wool-silk blend scarf goes Snow Leopard in this black-white-grey colorway.

J.Crew leopard print smoking slippers in metallic, cool-toned leopard print. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

I spotted these fab smoking slippers in the store a couple of weeks ago, and it took every ounce of restraint not to bring them home with me.

If you have a wide foot, you should definitely give these a try. I tried on the Regular width and found they run wide. This grey-and-black ocelot print looks even better in person.

And if a sneaker-style shoe isn’t your thing, here’s a sleek skimmer in the same print. (Also offered in Wide widths!)

This hooded sweater is wool-free, and such a fun take on leopard print!

Leaning Luxe: this silk shirt is all you need to be party-ready.

Anine Bing leopard print jacket. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

The smallish leopard print on this jacket isn’t too in-your-face. While there appears to be a little bit of light brown in the print, the overall tone is cool.

Clare V. monochromatic leopard print clutch. Details at une femme d'un certain age.As I’ve said before though, a little leopard print goes a long way. A clutch like this one definitely adds a “pop” to a simple look. And the mostly monochromatic color scheme would work with just about any colors in your wardrobe!

  1. Love leopard! I have the black.co.uk scarf in the brown colour way, and it’s beautiful. Warm but light. Tempted by the grey version. I have a pair of grey leopard loafers, so I must dig them out again too!

  2. How did you read my mind? You did all the work for me. Will peruse again and order, probably more than one.
    Many thanks!

  3. Love these choices! The silk shirt is gorgeous, but I was a bit offended to find that the brand considers a size 10 to be Extra Large. Seriously, people? Clearly I (size 10-12) am not your intended customer.

    1. This is what it’s like every time I go shopping, There are only a handful of stores that sell my size, and two of those are the same company under different names. Silk is not an option offered in my size anywhere.

I am the average size American woman, but I don’t live in the U.S., so the chains that would carry my size in your country do not have my size in my country.

  4. That Cole-Hahn line is very comfortable, and friendly to inserts for foot problems. The downside, at least in the ones I’ve tried on is that the sizing is not consistent among shoes in the Zero-Grand line. You need to try them on to get the right size so if you’re ordering online prepare yourself for an exchange!

  5. I have a leopard print short sleeve cotton sweater in gray tones with a touch of blue in the spots. It’s in my travel wardrobe because it works so well with both black and navy.

  6. I love leopard as well. I’ve had a wool challis leopard print scarf for years and a pair of pants. . I’ve also got a enough leopard print fabrics in my stash to make 5 pairs of pants, a jacket and a cotton sweater. I love that silk blouse.
